5 Easy Ways To Save Money

One of the biggest issues people face once in the “real world,” is expenses. When you’re in school, you don’t realize how expensive things are until it’s actually time to pay for them. Things like rent, bills, insurance, and vacations, things really add up. So here are 5 easy ways to help save you money!

Take Advantage of Coupons/Rewards Programs

First things first, if a company has a free rewards program, sign up for it! You can always opt out of spam-like e-mail messages from the company and if it costs you nothing and you get something in return? Well, you can’t beat that.

Pack Your Lunch
Going out to eat is where most people do major damage. So rather than going out all of the time for lunch, dinner, or stopping to buy your coffee at Starbucks every morning, set aside some time to pack your lunch, wrap up some leftovers, and make your own coffee. If you’re notorious for always going out for these things, save your receipts for a week and then add it up. Then, the next week, take care of everything yourself. You’ll be amazed at how much you save. ($4 coffee x 5 days = $20/week!)

Go to a Matinee Movie
Obviously the most convenient time to go to the movies is on a Friday or Saturday night when you’re done with school and work for the week. However, movie prices have risen drastically over the years, costing at least $20 just for movie tickets for you and your movie-going partner. To save some moolah, hit the theater before 5pm, when prices are cheaper. If you can bring yourself to get up and moving early enough, Sunday’s before noon are the cheapest (and least crowded) times to go.

Plan Vacations Ahead of Time
You never know what the deal might be with travel companies so plan your trips ahead. Once you figure out a date range you know you want to go, start monitoring the travel sites and watch for sales. You can also sign up for exclusive deal sites to stay up-to-date on the best prices for your trip!
