BFF Status: Jennifer Lawrence Edition

Right now Jennifer Lawrence is everywhere. And we’re not mad about it. She just wrapped up filming the second installment in The Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire. She is in the middle of an award show tour, being nominated for her role in Silver Linings Playbook (and won the Golden Globe for it, too!). And she’s made out with Bradley Cooper. Needless to say, this is the year of Jennifer Lawrence. While she is off winning awards and killer movie roles, she’s also winning the hearts of America. Her quick wit and down-to-earth attitude make her one of the coolest gals in Hollywood, and makes us want to be her BFF. If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen her interviews or heard her award show speeches, here are a few reasons why we love her… Straight from J-Law herself!

She doesn’t see herself as famous:
“Helena Bonham Carter and Jeff Bridges waved at me. And, of course, I thought it’d be absurd if they were waving at me, so I just stared at them. And then they were like ‘alright, fine’ and I was like ‘ME?'”

On teenage girls screaming for her: “I just wait there until they’re finished. I feel like a Backstreet Boy.”

“I don’t have any talents. I’m not a good cook, I can’t clean and I can’t sew. The only thing I can do well is shoot a bow and arrow – which I learned for The Hunger Games and will probably never come in handy – and act! Imagine me 100 years ago. I would have been pointless.”

“If I don’t have anything to do all day, I might not even put pants on.”

She isn’t afraid to love food:
“Food is one of my favorite parts of the day.”

When asked how she prepared for her movie premiere: “Uh, I ate french fries and laid in bed until 3.”

She doesn’t care about acting her age:

“We were traveling first class, and I always feel like an idiot everytime I fly first class, because I’m a kid, and I just sit there while everybody’s got their newspapers and on a computer, and I’m just like ‘Can I have a coloring book please?'”

She references Mean Girls:
On winning the People’s Choice Award: “I wish this was like Mean Girls, where I could just break this up and give it to all of you.”

She’s not always poised:
While talking to an interviewer: “I start shooting Catching Fire tomorrow… Oh my God, this dress has pockets!”

On Chelsea Lately: “I pee when I get scared… and when I’m nervous. Like backstage, I just peed every three seconds. I think your staff thinks I have diarrhea. So, I just want to clear that up: that was nerves, not diarrhea.”

On meeting Meryl Streep: “Once I’m obsessed with somebody, I’m terrified of them instantly. I’m not scared of them, I’m scared of me and how I will react. Like, for instance, one time someone was introducing me to Bill Maher, and I saw Meryl Streep walk into the room, and I literally put my hand right in Bill Maher’s face and said, ‘Not now, Bill!’ and I just stared at Meryl Streep… I just creepily stared at her.”

On getting in a car accident after thinking she saw Honey Boo Boo: “I had to get out of the car and say ‘I’m sorry I hit your family, I thought I saw Honey Boo Boo walking back there.”

She knows how to get a laugh:
On costar Bradley Cooper: “He’s fluent in French, very impressive. And he’s hilarious. It’s really too bad he’s so ugly.”

She’s not a party girl:
On not liking to go out and prefering to stay in: “After it’s 11pm, I’m like ‘Don’t these kids ever get tired?’ When I’m out, all I think about it my couch. Like ‘It would be awesome to be on it right now. I bet there’s an episode of Dance Moms on. Am I missing a new episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians?’ I’m just stressed at the idea of missing them.

“Reality TV is my silver lining. At the end of the day there’s probably nothing that makes me feel better than junk food and reality TV.”
