This month was Dottiebox’s inaugural month in world of subscription boxes – an area that has grown tremendously in 2013 alone. The Dottiebox team sent over the March 2013 box for me to check out and I must say, this is one of the coolest boxes I’ve seen so far! Featuring handmade products from various Etsy-like crafters, Dottiebox pulls together some awesome items to deliver to your door for $26 each month ($20 for the box + $6 shipping).
Butt Naked Candle
I immediately caught a whiff of the Butt Naked Votive Candle ($3) from 1 Love Candles upon opening up my box and let me tell you – that has to be one of the best candles I’ve ever smelled in my life. THAT GOOD. I put off burning it for awhile just because I didn’t want it to be gone. I’ll definitely need to invest in some more of them!
Coffee Cup Cozie
I’m not normally one to use a cozie for my cups, but this coffee cup cozie ($6) from Baby Off the Hook is pretty cute and something that you could use to mark your drink when you have guests over or attend a party yourself. Getting this in my box (and browsing the Baby Off the Hook Etsy store) also reminded me of how much I’d love to learn how to crochet. Especially things for babies – so cute.
Mustache Nail Decals
If you’ve been following Small Towns & City Lights for awhile, you’d know how excited I was to find this set of 10 Mustache Nail Decals ($1) from Make it Stick Designs. I’m not sure what exactly it is, but mustache-related items are all the rage. And I’m totally on board with it. A 10% coupon was also included for this Etsy shop – also dangerous considering how much I love these little nail decals.
Set of Wine Charms
This set of wine charms ($5) from Jen Ramey Designs is so cute! I’m all about the home/kitchen accessories so this is a perfect addition to my collection! A coupon for 10% off your first order with Jen was also included which I have a feeling I’ll be taking advantage of soon after browsing her Etsy shop!
Broken Pieces Hair Chalk
This was the most interesting item in this month’s Dottiebox – hair chalk ($6) from ShareeBoutique. Mainly because I’ve never heard of hair chalk but also because I’m literally the most boring person on the planet when it comes to my hair – never colored it or done anything drastic. But this product is just too exciting not to try. I mean, look at all of the colors!
A coupon for 15% off Ebe and Ash was also included in the box – an Etsy shop with reasonably priced jewelry and accessories, along with a surprise 6th item – lip balm hand made by the folks at Dottiebox ($4). My box held a pear-flavored balm but some boxes held a Hazelnut Latte-flavored balm. I haven’t stopped applying it since I opened it!
Not only is it cool for non-crafters (like myself) who enjoy unique items, but Dottiebox also offers Etsy shop owners/crafters the opportunity to get their name out through their monthly box. After calculating the cost of each item, the box comes out to be about true to price – $25 (not including coupons codes). I can’t wait to see what comes next from Dottiebox and recommend signing up for a box – especially if you’re one of those people (like me) who are so overwhelmed by all of the awesome things you find on Etsy you don’t know where to begin shopping.
