Academy of Country Music Awards Recap

Last night marked the first country award show of the year, and my southern heart was bursting with excitement. The Academy of  Country Music Awards (ACM’s) had dual hosts, country hotties Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, who opened the show with Shelton’s new single “Boys ‘Round Here” and were joined by Sheryl Crow and Pistol Annies. After that, the teasing began. Shelton and Bryan had playful banter with one another, even throwing in some “ball” jokes about five minutes into the program… Boys!

The three hour show consisted of mainly performances and a few awards scattered through the evening. Some wins were surprising, some were obvious, but all were well-deserved. More than half of the awards were not given out during the broadcast, but before on the red carpet. So, in case you missed any of the fun, here is a list of winners from the night:

Miranda Lambert was the big winner of the night, with her emotional ballad “Over You” co-written with husband/host Blake Shelton. The song is near and dear to the couple as it was written for Blake’s late brother. Tears were brought to millions of eyes last night when the couple went up to accept the award.

The best performance of the night (by far!) has to go to The Band Perry. Kimberly Perry came out rockin’ it with sass, hair swings, and bootie heels that will make any fashion girl swoon! The edgy look, performance and choreography from the band is a new side, and I’m loving it! If you haven’t seen it, you definitely need to check it out!

My other favorite performance of the night was (of course!) my Lady Antebellum being their adorable selves while singin’ their newest single “Downtown”. Their performance was (as always!) perfection, but the best part was at the end of the song, Charles rubs Hillary’s big baby bump. My heart just melted…

And, if you thought you couldn’t swoon any harder over Luke Bryan… Think again! After hearing his named called as the winner of the night’s biggest award, Entertainer of the Year, Bryan was so overcome with emotion, he could barely make his speech. I’ll be your shoulder to cry on, Luke!
