I refer to the Academy Awards as my Superbowl. Well, there is another night my little fashion heart anxiously awaits every year: The Costume Institute Gala, otherwise known as the MET Gala. Any couture lover knows, anyone who is anyone in fashion arrives to walk the famous red carpet stairs at the Metropolitan Mesuem of Art. Every year celebrities come together, donning the hottest designer trends, for an evening of fashion celebration. Sticking to the night’s theme, Punk: Chaos to Couture, the stars came out in full fierce! So many stars brought out their A game, this may have been the most successful year ever! Take a look at my best dressed list from last night’s affair:
My winner of the night! The Vampire Diarie’s star rocked the red carpet in a custom Monique Lhuillier number which included lace pants playing peek-a-boo underneath a sheer black skirt and corset top complete with leather overlay. Not to mention her stand-out hair and makeup syles to complete this look. I die.
One of my personal fashion icons, Jessica Alba, kept her punk fashion femimine in a custom leather Tory Burch gown with intricate floral detailing. She can do no wrong on the red carpet in my opinion.
The country singer rocked the carpet last night in a black J. Mendel gown featuring lace insets going for a “goth glamour” look.
Blake Lively, or the “queen of couture” as I like to call her, stunned in a strapless Gucci gown complete with silver embroidries and black feather bottom. Every time she hits the carpet, she further earns her placement as the “queen of couture”!
The Shameless star looked pretty in a Donna Karen Atelier platinum embroidered lace gown, keeping the punk theme in her killer hair and makeup.
Our girl J.Law did not stick to the “punk fashion” theme, instead opting for a classic and sophisticated look. She chose a black beaded Christian Dior gown with a netted head veil.
The Victoria’s Secret angel worked the carpet in a cut-out Michael Kors gown and a spiked Christian Louboutin clutch.
The Safe Haven star rocked her punk side in a silver strapless TopShop high-low dress and completed the look with studded ankle-cuff pumps.
The actress looked pretty in white in a chiffon Calvin Klein halter gown. The only part of this gown that makes me weary is the bottom train with it’s ripped look, but definitely adds to the punk theme.
An almost unrecognizable Anne Hathaway showed off her newly minted platinum blonde hair in a gorgoeus beaded and sheer black vintage Valentino gown.
Similar to Miranda Kerr’s gown, the Harry Potter star wore a black cut-out Prabal Gurung gown, sporting a more revealing look for the star.
Sienna Miller donned an all white Burberry gown to the event, adding a studded leather jacket (that I die for!) and a punk fashion ear cuff to complete the look.
The actress kept her ensemble simple and elegant last night in a black strapless Saint Laurent high-low gown.
Kate Beckinsale rocked a red strapless Alberta Ferretti gown with a structured waistline and high slit up the side.
