TV Upfronts 2013: Top 5 New Shows

It’s one of my favorite times of the year, TV Upfronts, where all of the networks start rolling out their Fall TV lineup. The major networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, and The CW) have each already unveiled their schedules for later this year, with a number of new shows from each. Below are the 5 trailers of the new shows I’m most excited for. Lucky, none of their scheduled times interfere with other shows I currently watch (aside from two new shows that’ll be airing during the same day/time slot). Here’s to hoping these won’t be cancelled!

The Blacklist, NBC
Crime/FBI type shows are my absolute FAVORITE. The trailer for The Blacklist reminds me of FOX’s The Following which quickly skyrocketed to the top of my TV watching list. The preview shows a man on the Most Wanted List who surrenders himself willingly to the FBI but with some kind of hidden agenda. Saying he’ll work with only one specific agent, he spills things that people on his blacklist will be doing before they actually happen and sort of joins the FBI efforts of catching these criminals.  (Mondays, 10 p.m.)

The Crazy Ones, CBS
Words cannot describe how excited I am for this show. 1- Robin Williams. LOVE. 2 – Sarah Michelle Gellar. LOVE (and I’m still bitter about her show Ringer being nixed from The CW). A father-daughter duo with completely different ways of doing things run an ad agency together- Williams with his typical comedy, Michelle Gellar a bit on the serious side. To me, this new CBS show is like a modern and comedic version of AMC’s Mad Men. Kelly Clarkson’s also set to star in the pilot and her role looks hysterical. I can’t wait to see this one! (Thursdays, 9 p.m.)

Hostages, CBS – Mondays 10
Dylan McDermott has been popping up EVERYWHERE in the past couple of years, but I don’t hate it! CBS’ new drama looks pretty intense and mind-blowing, as McDermott’s character is a brilliant FBI agent who’s also crazy, as he takes a family hostage, telling the mother (a surgeon) that in order to free the family, she must kill the President/not let him survive the surgery. I’m not sure what his motives are behind the insane request, but I can already tell this is one show I’m going to be instantly hooked on. (Mondays, 10 p.m.)

The Goldbergs, ABC
Who doesn’t love the 80s?! Despite the fact that I didn’t grow up in the 80s, I’m definitely an 80s girl at heart. Between the John Hughes classics and the tunes that came out of the decade, I’m obsessed with everything about it. This new comedy on ABC takes us back to that golden era and follows the (seemingly) hilarious Goldberg family. (Tuesdays, 9 p.m.)

The Originals, The CW
If you’re a fan of The CW’s Vampire Diaries, you’re absolutely going to love their new show, The Originals. We got a glimpse into what this new show will be about last month with a special episode focusing on the original vamps we know and love so much (Klaus). It’ll be interesting to see how this new series aligns with the existing storyline of TVD.  (Mondays, 8 p.m.)

Have you checked out the Fall 2013 lineup for the major networks? Which new shows are you most excited for?
