Cause of the Month: Charity: Water

Charity: Water is a non-profit organization that is helping to bring clean and safe drinking water to all developing third-world countries. Founded in 2006, Charity: Water has already brought clean water wells to over 2.5 million people.

There are many diseases and bacteria in unclean water that make thousands sick every day. And not only is there only dirty water in these countries, but people have to travel for miles every day just to get some. Charity: Water is helping to build wells all throughout developing areas to not only have access to clean and healthy water, but also nearby so women and children don’t have to walk in the heat to drink.

Did You Know?
*More people die from poorly sanitized water every day than any other form of violence.
*There is approximately 30,000 deaths every week. 90% of these deaths are from dirty water.

Charity: Water has a lot of creative ways to help. You can have a birthday donation, in which your friends and family can donate the money they’d spend on your gift to help fund clean water wells. You can also start your own fundraiser or sponsor a project to help. Even if you don’t have any funds to donate, knowledge goes a long way!

Kristen Bell and Sophia Bush are two of the biggest and most outspoken supporters of Charity: Water. Sophia even had a donation competition last year to raise money for the organization, beating out running mate Seth Rogan.
