Disney Films in 2014

I love Disney and I love movies. Put them together, and you know it’s going to be awesome (especially since Marvel is now part of Disney). The list of Disney films being released in 2014 is now out and from first glance, it’s going to be a great year ahead! Take a look at this year’s films below.

Need for Speed – March 14
I’m not crazy about car racing movies, but Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul looks pretty intense with a revenge storyline and some pretty high-action scenes. This one’s definitely on my list to see for the year. After all I do need my fix of Jesse Pinkman since Breaking Bad is no more!

Muppets Most Wanted – March 21
The trailer for Muppets Most Wanted have been playing for a while now and is a series that I don’t think will ever get old. All of our favorite Muppets are back, along with stars Tina Fey, Ty Burrell, Ricky Gervais (to name a few). This will definitely be one to take the whole fam to.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier – April 4
Hooray for superheroes! I can’t wait to see the next installment of Captain America – Captain America: The Winter Soldier this spring. Picking up post-Avenger adventure in NYC, Steve a.k.a. Captain America tries to adjust to modern day life until in usual superhero movie fashion, an attack occurs and Captain America along with Black Widow head out to save the day.

Bears – April 18
Disney Nature is releasing another real-life nature film this year, Bears, which follows a bear family over the course of a year through all seasons in their home in Alaska. If you’re a nature or wildlife fan, and even if not, this film looks like it’ll be an amazing one to see!

Million Dollar Arm – May 16
Jon Hamm. Need I say more? Million Dollar Arm tells the story of an agent looking to find the next best baseball pitcher, searching in India for some recruits to bring back to the States. This drama seems to have quite a bit of comedy in it as well and I can’t wait to see it!

Maleficent – May 30
I’m Team Aniston all the way (yes, even all these years later) but nonetheless, I’m really interested to see Maleficent and see the backstory to the villain in the tale of Sleeping Beauty/Aurora. Based on the trailer alone, it seems like Angelina Jolie is the perfect cast to play this villainous role.

No trailers are available yet for the films being released during the second half of the year, but there are pictures to leave the films to our imaginations!

Planes: Fire & Rescue – July 18

This animated film reminds me a lot of Disney’s Cars (although I don’t think they could ever top Mater). Starring Dane Cook and Julie Bowen’s voices, this comedy-adventure follows a crew of fighting aircrafts on a mission to save a national park from a raging wildfire.

Guardians of the Galaxy – August 1
Another Marvel film will be released this year, thumbs up! Guardians of the Galaxy doesn’t feature our well-known/loved superheroes but brings a new tale of a space adventurer on the run from a bounty hunter after stealing an orb desired by the villain.

The Hundred-Foot Journey – August 8
The Hundred-Foot Journey takes place in south France, as a family displaced from their home in India hopes to open an Indian restaurant. However, once the chef proprietress (played by Helen Mirren) of a French restaurant hears of the plans, she starts an icy protest and a bitter battle between the two restaurant takes place.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day – October 10
I’m so excited that popular children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is being made into a movie, and also that Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell are starring in it! Following the worst day of an 11-year old’s life, this movie will be hilarious. And if you haven’t read the book yet, make sure you do before seeing the movie!

McFarland – November 21
There’s not much info available on the McFarland film, but Kevin Costnar will be starring I’m assuming as the main character/track coach who works to transform a team of athletes into championship contenders (at least according to IMDB).

Into the Woods – December 25
I’m probably most excited to see this movie out of the entire 2014 Disney lineup. Starring Meryl Streep, this movie tells the tale of a witch who conspires to teach lessons to characters from children’s stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and Rapunzel. There’s a pretty impressive cast list (including Johnny Depp, Chris Pine and Anna Kendrick) in this film so you know it’ll be incredible!
