Essential Apps: February 2014

Hukkster:
Shopping is one of my favorite things to do – and also one of the most dangerous! The Hukkster app helps curb your spending on items at full price, alerting you when items you’ve flagged go on sale. Essentially allowing you to get more bang for your buck! Hukkster has partnered with several popular brands such as Target, Macy’s and Nordstrom, making it easy for you to mark your favorite items/items to watch for price drops. Love this!

Venmo:
I downloaded the Venmo app almost a year ago but haven’t fully utilized it until recently when more of my friends hopped on the bandwagon. This app links up to your bank account (there are tons of security/encryption layers behind this app), allowing you to send money to friends/family and vice versa. What’s great about this app is that it allows you to send money directly to someone (and add a description of what for), so there are no “I’ll pay you back later” exchanges. If you have roomies, this is also a great way to pay for rent/bills!

Day of the Shirt:
I’m pretty obsessed with Day of the Shirt, a website/app that compiles unique shirt designs (usually geek/nerd related) from various sites and brings them together in one location for you to view, saving you the time from tabbing between a bunch of sites. I’ve purchased a good number of t-shirts from Day of the Shirt already and check out the selection as part of my daily routine. Designs range from Star Trek and Game of Thrones to Harry Potter, Dexter, and Ninja Turtles (to name a few). Definitely an essential app if you’re a fan of any of those!
