Family Favorites Classic Series at the Tampa Theatre

I love movies, especially when it comes to throwbacks from my childhood. The historic Tampa Theatre is hosting their very first Family Favories Classic Series (full list below) this year, taking place every Sunday at 3 p.m. now through April 27. The series kicked off this past Sunday with the 80’s family favorite, The Muppets Take Manhattan, and I was excited to bring my younger sisters to see it for the first time!

In addition to seeing the film, we were taken on a tour of Tampa’s historic landmark and learned some pretty cool facts about the Theatre surrounding the design by famed theatre architect John Eberson including: Eberson’s love for birds (you can see them all around the theatre if you look closely), the special kiddie-sized three kittens bathroom stall and toilet, and the (very old school) communication system used for ushers to communicate around the theatre, since the 1926 creation of the theatre occurred long before standard phones.

If you haven’t been to the Tampa Theatre, I highly recommend taking a trip to downtown Tampa to check it out – it’s well worth it! The atmosphere is so much different than your typical chain movie theater. After all, it’s a one-of-a-kind! Tickets for the classic series are $10 for general admission and $10 for theatre members.
