Top Beauty Picks: March 2014

I’ve been branching out from my typical 2-3 beauty brands and trying out a variety of new ones, as I’m on the hunt for the best type of beauty product across categories. And so far, I’m off to a good start! Check out my 5 beauty picks for the month, below.

Drybar Hot Toddy
Every day is a battle with my hair, as there’s no way around the Florida humidity. Drybar kindly sent me a sample of their Hot Toddy ($33) which has become a staple in my daily routine, fighting frizziness and acting as a heat protector from hair drying and straightening (both of which I do). I only wish there was a Drybar salon closer so I could get one of their famous blowouts!

BareMinerals Lasting Line Eyeliner
BareMinerals introduced a new eyeliner into their spring collection and I’m so excited about it!   Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner ($16) comes with a thinner pencil tip and a built-in sharpener, which I love! Similar to their previous eyeliners, this one comes in a variety of colors, but I’ve been using the black/charcoal colors.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes
For the longest time I’ve been using Ponds Cold Cream as my daily makeup remover, but lately I’ve had the itch to try makeup removing wipes instead. So on a recent trip to Walgreens I picked up a pack of Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes ($7) to try out and ever since, I’ve decided wipes are the way to go for removing makeup. SO much easier! These do have a strong odor to them which reminds me a bit of sunscreen/a beachy smell, so keep in mind if that is/isn’t a scent you’re a fan of.

Simple Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer
I started using Simple Skincare last summer and really love their moisturizers. The company sent me a sample of their new Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer  ($12.50) and I must admit, I was skeptical at first to use a gel textured moisturizer since I hadn’t before. After using it for a few weeks now, I’m wondering why there aren’t more gel moisturizers on the market. I love this! It instantly soaks into my skin and doesn’t have that sticky gel feeling afterward. Double thumbs up!

Red Carpet Youth Creme
I know it’s probably not the best thing for my nails, but I love getting gel manicures. And even though I only get them done every 2 months or so, I know my nails have been wearing down from them. So in between manicures, I use Youth Activating Nail & Cuticle Cream/Youth Creme ($15) to keep my nail beds and cuticles healthy. This gel-based creme is made up of antioxidants, Gobi Berry and Bearberry, giving your hands and nails a top-notch treatment.

What are your beauty must-haves this month?

I totally need to try the nail gel! I don't get gel/shellac too much anymore (it used to do a real number on my nails), but I do paint my nails every week. Thanks for the tip!

I haven't tried the Ponds makeup removing wipes, but the Yes to Cucumbers wipes are also amazing if you ever need something effective and very gentle. I'm in love with them!

Sounds like some great products. Thanks for sharing. No faves here, I'm pretty basic.

The Hot Toddy sounds awesome! I actually use a Dove oil spray on my hair when I get out of the shower (it's about $4 at Walmart) and it gets rid of my frizz and makes my hair easier to brush and shiny. You might want to try that if you are looking for a cheaper option. :)
