Escape Monthly: March 2014 Review

It’s been a few months since I’ve received an Escape Monthly box, but with a destination of Ireland in the month of March, who could resist? Certainly not me! This is also the first non-U.S. escape that I’ve received (see my previous Escape Monthly reviews here), and I’ve been dying to get to Europe, so this will have to tide me over for now!

For $50 each month, ($39.95 if you use my referral link), you’ll receive a box full of goodies from somewhere in the world (past escapes have included Italy, Hawaii, Napa Valley, Colorado). Additionally, you have a chance to win an actual vacation for 2 to the destination of the month. I’ve yet to win – but I’m still holding out hope!

Hogan’s Brown Irish Soda Bread Mix
The first thing I noticed in March’s Escape Monthly was the Hogan’s Brown Irish Soda Bread Mix ($7). I haven’t had a chance to make it yet, but I’m very excited about it! A staple in every Irish household, I’m looking forward to trying this out!

Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream
My favorite item in the box was the Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream ($32). This lotion is supposed to help with any kind of skin issue – from eczema and acne to dry/cracked/sunburnt and razor burn. This will definitely come in handy with summer coming up in Florida!

Bewley’s Irish Creme Coffee
Coffee is a staple in my day, and Irish coffee? Even better! This can of Bewley’s Irish Creme Coffee ($3) comes from one of Europe’s most famous coffee and tea emporiums, Bewley’s Grafton Street Cafe in Dublin. I still haven’t invested in a ground coffee cup for my Keurig, but I’m definitely going to now – I’ve got to try this coffee!

The Seaweed Bath Co. Powder Bath
I usually love fruity flavored and scented things, but I haven’t decided how I feel about the Citrus-flavored Wildly Natural Seaweed Powder Bath from the Seaweed Bath Co. ($4) just yet, as I usually prefer minty or similar relaxing-type scents for bath and spa products. I’ll give it a try though!

Follain Orange Marmalade with Jameson
An escape to Ireland wouldn’t be complete without some Irish whiskey, and I’m happy to report that can be checked off! This jar of Follain’s Orange Marmalade with Jameson ($9) is amazing! I read that it also pairs wonderfully with Irish soda bread, so I’ll need to make that very soon!

Garden of Ireland Linen Wrapped Soap
I’m not too crazy about bars of soap in boxes, but knowing the Linen Wrapped Soap ($7) comes from Ireland and is handmade, I can’t help but already love it. I’d love to watch the soap-making process and am just picturing it out in the big open fields of green in the countryside!

O’Neills Shamrock Shortbread Cookies
Always a sucker for cookies, I was very happy to find O’Neills Shamrock Shortbread Cookies ($6.50) waiting for me. I may or may not have already eaten half of them already (to be fair, there were only 4 in there), but I’m planning to save the last 2 to eat along with my Irish coffee!

Auld Sod Shamrock Seeds
Each Escape Monthly includes a bonus item, and for me, it was a pack of Irish Shamrock Seeds ($6) from Auld Sod. Although I didn’t inherit the green thumb gene, I’m looking forward to planting these and growing a little Shamrock garden on my patio!

I paid $39.95 for March’s Escape Monthly and the box retailed out to about $74.50 – a great value (something I always love to see)! I must admit, I was a bit disappointed to find out that this month’s box had a packing variation. It was cool to see a lot of different products from Ireland, but seeing other Irish items I would’ve preferred over some I received was a bit of a bummer (especially not getting the Moon Travel book – I love those)!

Next month, Escape Monthly will be sending you to Mexico! You have until April 14 to sign up to join, as all boxes ship out the 15th of each month.

Where do you want to escape to?
