Golden Tote: April 2014 Review

I received my second Golden Tote last week (see my previous review here) and opted to splurge for the $149 tote, since there were 2 items I knew I definitely wanted in my closet! If you’re not familiar with Golden Tote, here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Monthly clothing subscription with 2 options:
    • $149 for 6-7 items ($600 value) – You pick two, the rest are a surprise
    • $49 for 2-3 items ($200) – You pick one, the rest are a surprise
  • Opens up the first Monday of each month and items are available until sold out (keep in mind they go fast)

Breezy Open Back Dress
My first pick this month was the Breezy Open Back Dress ($40). With spaghetti straps and an exposed back, this dress is perfect for the spring/summer seasons. These bright bold colors are also some of my favorites – very happy with this pick!

Embroidered Denim Jacket
My second pick for this month’s Golden Tote was the Embroidered Denim Jacket ($65). I haven’t owned a denim jacket in years and figured that it was about time to add one back in my wardrobe. I prefer the dark wash over the light so this caught my eye quickly, and with the white Aztec-looking embroidery, I was sold! Love this even more in person!

Floral Blouse
The only item I wasn’t crazy in April’s Golden Tote was this Floral Blouse ($40). It’s a little too bold (and floral) for me. I think I’ll try it on one more time and if I’m still not feeling it, will land in the donate pile.

In Clover White Blouse
White/cream colored shirts make me nervous – I always think I’m going to spill something and ruin them! The In Clover White Blouse ($45) is pretty but also very delicate material-wise. I wasn’t loving it when I first opened the tote, but after trying it on, I decided that I do like it. Note to self: Don’t judge a book by its cover.. or an outfit on a hanger :)

Raglan Lace Top + Cami
The cool weather in Florida is long gone, so I wasn’t jumping for joy over the quarter-length Raglan Lace Top ($60) included in my Tote. It’s also not 100% my style but I’m going to give it a try. Love that a bonus cami was thrown in to make this shirt wearable right away – that is absolutely something that I’ll get a lot of use out of.

Priddy by Puella Layered Dress
I’m normally not too crazy about horizontal striped clothing, but I am absolutely LOVING the Priddy by Puella Layered Dress ($60). I’ll definitely be wearing this often and think my outfit for 4th of July is now set!

All-in-all, my April Golden Tote was a huge win! I wasn’t planning on splurging on the $149 tote but couldn’t resist the 2 items I was eyeing – plus I needed to add some new clothes to my wardrobe for spring/summer! I’ve seen a few Golden Tote spoilers for May posted via their Facebook page and already have some pieces I’m eyeing for when the next sale begins on Monday!

What pieces of clothing do you want to see in your future totes?

I've never heard of this before; cool! Not sure if I could let someone else choose clothes for me…but definitely a neat idea!

I'm WAY too picky to try something like this, but the clothes you got are really cute. I love both the dresses and the jean jacket! The white blouse is cute too. You could always wear a cami underneath it and take it off if you do get it dirty or spill something. Or just keep a back up shirt in the car. :)

Very cool concept. Love the dress for spring/summer/fall in Tampa :)

I haven't been brave enough to try this one, mainly because many of their prints are so bold (and I'm kinda boring, I suppose). I loved that raglan however. If that would have been available as a choice, I would have taken the plunge!

I did see the breezy dress still available for the May tote. That is so cute!
