Essential Apps: June 2014

With summer vacation season upon us, it’s only appropriate to share some essential apps related to vacations, as we’re all gearing up for an escape, whether it’s a quick weekend getaway or a weeklong escape. Check out some of my favorite travel apps below!

Airbnb:
Although I haven’t used the service yet, I’ve been very intrigued by Airbnb since learning more about them at Sundance earlier this year. Hotels can sometimes be the priciest part of vacations (especially longer trips), so the Airbnb app (free) is a great option when looking for affordable places to stay. This has been one of my favorites to use for planning my upcoming trips!

City Guides by National Geographic
The quality of photos taken by National Geographic never cease to amaze me! Combine that with quick access to must see/do things in big cities, you get a killer app! City Guides by National Geographic (free) also features fun facts about cities, which are really fun to read with travel buddies, taking turns guessing if the facts are true or false!

Momondo
Trying to find the perfect flight can be challenging with several factors weighing on your mind, such as price, flight time, etc. Although you can never quite predict if a flightpath you’re eyeing with drop, I love using the Momondo app (free) to search for flight options. You can also view flight prices using a flexible chart and see what prices are for specific days without having to go in and change your tentative trip dates. And the final seller for me on this app? The fun colors! It’s the little things in life..
