Golden Tote: June 2014 Review

My obsession with Golden Tote grows more and more every month. I’m pretty picky when it comes to clothing, but between what I select myself from the GT and the surprises they choose for me, I’ve been very happy with my new outfits (see previous reviews here)! Once again, I opted for the $149 tote (birthday splurge), which includes 5-7 items worth up to $600. The other option is a $49 tote with 2-3 items valued at up to $200.

Puella Chevron Midi Dress
The Puella Chevron Midi Dress ($88) was my first pick for my June tote. I’m not normally one to wear long dresses like this, but something about it caught my attention! The pattern is really flattering in person/when you try it on too, which I really appreciate. Definitely one I plan to pack for my trip to Napa this summer – love it!

Striped Summer Dress
My second pick was the Striped Summer Dress ($55), which was offered with navy or light tan stripes (I opted for the navy). I couldn’t wait to try the dress on – it seemed like a perfect one to wear for work as well! Although it fit fine up top, there seemed to be too much material below the waistline and it kind of bunched up on me. I’m hoping to swap for a smaller size – I’ll be so sad to see this dress go!

Priddy Slouchy Pants
Before totes were shipped out, GT announced that Priddy Slouchy Pants would be included as a surprise item for the first 1,500 tote orders. Despite the fact that these are a magnet for my dog’s hair, I love them! I had chosen the wrong pant size in my GT profile (I took a wild guess on the European size) so they were a bit big on me, but luckily I was able to trade with someone to get the right size. I’m pretty sure these will be my standard airplane pants now!

Nautical Porridge Shirt
I loved the style of the Nautical Porridge Shirt, but the design seemed a little old for me. I ended up trading it in the GT Trading Group for a cute dress from someone’s May tote. A perfect example of how you win with Golden Tote, even if you’re not crazy about an item you receive, you can almost always find someone to swap with!

Hourglass Lily Wrap Dress
When I first opened the Hourglass Lily Wrap Dress, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be for me. But after trying it on, I loved it! Yes, the material is more tight-fitting, but it’s actually a very flattering pattern and material and one that’s work appropriate. Very happy with this surprise item!

Black & White Striped Tank
I absolutely love my new Black & White Striped Tank, the fourth surprise item in my June tote. This goes great with a pair of jeans on a breezy summer night. I’ve been looking for something like this for awhile, so I’m very happy to be able to add this one to my clothing collection!

Although I didn’t end up keeping all of the items I received in my June tote, I was able to find happy homes for the items I wasn’t crazy about, trading for other items that I was interested in and ended up loving!
July’s Golden Tote will go on sale in a couple weeks, but in the meantime, you can snag a Surprise Item Tote for $100, where you’ll receive 4-6 surprise items. This offers a mid-price option between the standard $49 and $149 totes, but don’t include any items that you pick out yourself.
What did you think of your June tote?

So how does this work? You pay a set price and get to keep all the item or choose from them and send them back?

You pay a set price and keep it all! If there are things you don't like, there's a Facebook group where you can trade/sell with other people, since everyone's "surprise" items are different!
