Loot Crate: August 2014 Review

It’s been awhile since I’ve received a Loot Crate, so I was very excited when the company kindly offered to send a box out for review. Featuring a variety of 6-8 geek and gamer items, this box costs just under $20 (including shipping). August’s theme was Superheroes and with hints of TMNT and KidRobot so I couldn’t wait to see what was in store!

Funko POP! Glow-in-the-Dark Groot Vinyl
I love POP Vinyl figures and was SO excited when a Groot Funko POP! Vinyl ($11) was included – and a special edition glow-in-the-dark version just for Loot Crate! I wasn’t familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy before I saw the movie, but since seeing it, it’s one of my favorites. And Groot is just awesome (especially baby dancing Groot)!

KidRobot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Ooze Action Figure
It was teased that a special KidRobot item would be included in August’s Loot Crate and I was thrilled to see that it was TMNT-themed! The KidRobot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Ooze Action Figure ($10) is fairly similar to the TMNT blind box figures, but an entirely different collection for myself and my fellow Ninja Turtles fans to get started on! I received Leonardo, but it looks like all of the Turtles were sent out based on other Loot Crate’s I’ve seen.

I’ve never heard of Shwings ($9) but got a good chuckle when I saw them. I hardly ever wear tennis shoes so I won’t keep these, but I can definitely see someone getting good use out of them!

Sonic Breeze Air Freshener
I’m a kid of the 90s so the Sonic Breeze Air Freshener ($4) was an awesome inclusion. I’m in need of a new car air freshener and LOVE the nostalgia that’s tied with the Sega classic, Sonic the Hedgehog. Can’t wait to put this in my car!

TMNT Glasses
I’m loving the variety of Ninja Turtles items in August’s Loot Crate! Although these Michaelangelo TMNT Glasses (~$4) look terrible on me, I still love them and have added them to my TMNT shelf/collection.

Loot Crate Pin + Magnet & Game Codes
To go with the superheroes theme of this month’s Loot Crate, we also received a pin and magnet   (~$2). A digital content card was also included with 3 unique codes for Doctor Who: Legacy, Defense Grid: The Awakening and Mask of the Wyrm Slayer for Gauntlet ($12). I’ve never played any of those but I’m curious about them now!

August’s Loot Crate retailed out to about $50 including the digital content card with game codes, doubling (and then some) the price of the box. This box was definitely a hit for me with the Groot POP! and TMNT items. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for September!
