BarkBox: August 2014 Review

August’s Barkbox theme was “Ahoy, Matey,” very appropriate for the end of the summer season. Sheba was very excited when I walked in with her BarkBox. She’s gotten so spoiled with them that she thinks every box that comes through the front door is for her! So after mom (me) getting a ton of other packages this month, she was thrilled that hers finally arrived! Check out the contents below and click here to see reviews of past BarkBoxes.

Sheba sniffing out “the goods”

Bocce’s Bakery Lobster Roll
Treats from Bocce’s Bakery pop up quite a bit in Barkbox, and Sheba always seems pretty happy about it! To go along with this month’s theme, their Lobster Roll treats ($10) were included. Love it!

FloatRageous Louie the Lobster
I thought the FloatRageous Louie the Lobster ($6) was absolutely adorable and love that he came named! The toy noted that it works best after soaking some water up (it also squeaks and floats), however, since it wasn’t fuzzy or filled with fluff, Sheba wasn’t too interested in this guy.

Grandma Bowser’s Country Oven Bisquits
Grandma Bowser’s Country Oven Bisquits ($8) were the biggest hit for Sheba this month! We’ve received them in previous boxes and she always goes right for them. I love the more homemade aspect of it too – it’s not a mainstream brand but more of a small business to support!

Jolly Pets Romp n’ Roll
The Jolly Pets Romp n’ Roll ($15) wasn’t really a hit this month toy-wise either. She’s more into fuzzy toys with squeakers she can pull out or rubber balls to play with – not so much tug o’ war toys. I’m going to add this to the donate pile for my trip to the Humane Society.

August’s Barkbox retailed out to about $39 and I paid $16 after snagging an awesome deal last year (currently you can subscribe for $19+/month depending on which tier you select). As with any box, it can be hit or miss. This one was 2/4 for Sheebs but we always still get treats/toys valued at more than I paid and even if it’s not a hit for her, it’ll find a good home after donating.
