Golden Tote: September 2014 Review

Golden Tote delivery day is the best day of the month! This month I splurged on 2 totes – a large and small one. There were too many awesome pieces to choose from and narrowing it down to 3 that I wanted was a big accomplishment! I’m planning on going back to just one tote for October (although I wish I could get all the items every month)!

If you’re not familiar with Golden Tote it’s a clothing subscription company that releases a new collection of pieces on the first Monday of every month – including dresses, pants, tops, cardigans – everything you can think of, of course, depending on the season. They offer two totes – a small ($49) where you receive 2-3 items and a large ($149) where you receive 5-7 items.

First up is my 2-item small tote. I ended up buying this one because I’ve been in need of a new pair of skinny jeans since my favorite pair that I’ve owned for years now has a hole that can’t really be mended. It’s probably overdue though since it’s been a good 5 years at least!

Ankle Skinny Jeans
I’m SO glad I sized way up in the Ankle Skinny Jeans ($40). You never know how pants will fit so I’m always skeptical to order online but I love the look of these! They’re a little snug but I can definitely make them work!

Beautifully Paisley Tunic
I’m not crazy about the paisley pattern, so I wasn’t too thrilled about the Beautifully Paisley Tunic (~$35). After trying it on I definitely knew it wasn’t for me. Luckily, someone else was interested in this (who now loves it) and I was able to trade it.

The small tote was 50/50 for me but I’m still happy I ordered it! I was way more excited to open my large tote since there were 6 more pieces in there (4 of which were surprises).

Sheer Sleeve Tweed Blouse
The Sheer Sleeve Tweed Blouse ($45) was my first pick after seeing the spoilers for September. I thought this would be the perfect top for NYE or a fancy night out! I read that this runs small in the shoulders but I ordered my usual size and it ended up fitting perfectly. It looks a little different in person (the sparkles are little confetti pieces) but I love it!

THML Mosaic Dress
My second pick in the large tote was the THML Mosaic Dress (~$70) which is now sold out in the GT Botique. When I tried it on I wasn’t crazy about how the mosaic pattern looked so was bummed to have to sell it. On the bright side, the money from selling the dress will help me fund my October tote!

Le Lis Sweater
The Le Lis Sweater (~$40) is hands down my favorite item in both of my totes. It’s super comfortable and fits perfectly! If it wasn’t so hot in Florida I’d probably wear it all the time. I’ll definitely be packing this for my fall and winter trips!

Color Thread Tee
I was eyeing up one of the plaid shirts that GT offered this month but had decided against it (kicking myself now – they’re sold out and nobody has them for trade). The Color Thread Tee (~$25) helped me ease some of that sadness since there’s plaid on the sleeves and bottom of the shirt. The colors are very me too, love it!

Skies are Blue Top
At first glance I wasn’t into this Skies are Blue Top (~$50) at ALL. It looked too wide and I wasn’t sure about the yellow embroidery on the front. Shame on me for judging off first impressions. The shirt actually is longer than it appeared once on and it’s extremely comfortable and very cute. One of my new favorites!

Le Lis Striped Skirt
I really loved the Le Lis Sweater (~$45) pictured above so I was thinking that the skirt would be just as awesome. Although it’s really cute and fit well, I was thinking I wouldn’t get much use out of it, so opted to sell this one as well.

All in all, I loved my totes this month! Golden Tote is my favorite way to get new clothes these days. October’s tote goes on sale a week from today at noon EST – I can’t wait to see the full lineup of items!

Next time, you should model them! Not as fun looking at clothes hanging on the back of a door…
