Idina Menzel: Holiday Wishes Album Review

You all know how excited I am that it’s Christmas music season! And although I love the classics that I’ve been singing forever, I’m always happy when a new album of Christmas songs is released! Just a few weeks ago Idina Menzel’s Holiday Wishes dropped and it’s been getting quite a bit of play time in my Christmas playlist.

As with most Christmas albums, there’s a mix of both old and new tunes. Overall, I’m really digging Holiday Wishes. Idina Menzel does have a pretty distinct voice though, so some of them are a little too over the top for me. She is a broadway gal though, so there is a BIG broadway feel to it! So what are the top tracks worthy of your time?

  • “Baby It’s Cold Outside” – This classic duet is sung with Michael Buble and it’s perfect (but then again what Buble song isn’t)! This could very well be my favorite on the album. Can listen to it all day long!
  • “The Christmas Song” – Idina has the perfect voice for my favorite Christmas Eve song. I just want to curl up by the fire, drink hot chocolate and wrap presents when listening to this one. So very Christmas!
  • “River” – This is a new one and has the most broadway feel to it. As I listen to it I always think that it’d be the final song of Act I before intermission. It’s not really a jolly Christmas song, but it’s still a good one!

The album is available for download on iTunes and Amazon. You can also stay up-to-date with the latest Idina news (Frozen sequel!?) by checking out her official website or liking/following on Facebook and/or Twitter.
