Last night I returned from my extra long weekend trip up to Rhode Island in the middle of a giant snow storm! If you live in the northeast, don’t hate me for wishing MORE snow upon you this past weekend. I know you guys have gotten more than your fair share of it. But this Florida girl hasn’t seen snow since college and it was long overdue!
On Valentine’s Day the snow started coming down pretty heavily, which I was SO excited about! Ted knows my inner 5 year-old comes out when it comes to snow, and rather than having a snowball fight, building a snowman, making snow angels, etc., he suggested we go sledding, an activity that in my 24 years, I STILL hadn’t done.
Of course I jumped at the opportunity, ran upstairs and geared up with snow pants and snow boots. #eskimolife
There was already a ton of snow on the ground while fresh layers were falling, and as we climbed to the top of the hill, I found myself ending up almost losing a foot/leg once or twice to the snow! But alas, we made it to the top!
Despite how excited I was for my first sledding adventure, once I actually sat on the top of the hill, I started freaking out a little. I flashed back to my first time skiing last winter and panicking that I was going to fly down the hill not stop, crash, and die. Very dramatic, I know. But also, I was trying to rack my brain to remember the tips that were on one of the Rossen Reports segments on The Today Show about proper ways to go sledding/safety tips.
But finally, after sitting on that hill for a good 10-15 minutes, I mustered up my strength and let go. And.. IT WAS SO FUN! I didn’t go flying down the hill nearly as fast as I expected which was both relieving (I didn’t crash) and also disappointing (I wanted to zoom). But the experience overall was amazing! And I’m thrilled I get to cross another item off my bucket list!
Have you been sledding before?
