Oscar Noms + Picks

The 87th Academy Awards/Oscars is taking place Sunday night in Los Angeles and on our TV’s on ABC starting at 7 p.m. EST. This is the biggest award show for the film industry, which Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting this year.

I always strive to see all of the nominated films (at least for Best Picture), but for some reason most of them don’t come out until a month or two before the awards and are limited release, making it difficult to achieve. This year, I’ve seen 5 of the 8 movies in the category, and am really hoping I’ll be able to see the last 3 (Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Selma) before then so my opinions are a little less bias. Netflix, if you’re listening, I’d really appreciate the ability to binge all of the Oscar nominated films next year, pre-awards!

Here’s a list of a few of the 5 biggest categories (and nominations), along with my picks for the winners. This isn’t necessarily who I think will win, but who I’d vote for if the Academy invited me to be a member. Wishful thinking!

  • I went to film school so the Oscars are legit my FAVORITE thing! And Oscar season is the best!!

I've seen all the best pictures, but I still need to see Still Alice, which I think I will saturday, Foxcatcher (which I don't really want to see) and The Judge (Which I doubt i'll have time too)

Boyhood and Grand Budapest were my favorites of the year, but I think your right because Imitation Game is such Oscar bate. Still rooting for Boyhood & Linklater though, i really loved it!

    • Film school sounds awesome! I haven't seen those 3 either but I'm very curious about Still Alice! I just watched Birdman and Grand Budapest and really liked both. It'll be interesting to see who ends up winning!
