Swimsuit season is officially upon us, now that Tampa hit the 80+ degree mark over the weekend, and for everyone outside of Florida, don’t worry, you’ll get there soon too (although maybe not SO warm)!
To prep for “bathing suit season,” Lands’ End is making 4 stops in the sunshine state (Tampa, Juno Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach), bringing the ultimate swimsuit experience to women with their #GetawayTour. What is this ultimate swimsuit experience? Read on to find out! Note: if you live outside of those areas, don’t fret, there’s still something in it for you too (and it involves possibly winning a trip to The British Virgin Islands)!
Lands’ End invited me out to their #GetawayTour stop in Tampa at Wiregrass Mall over the weekend. Originally I was supposed to stop by on Saturday, but in true Florida style, we had some unpredictable weather. ALL DAY torrential rain + winds Saturday (which was supposed to be “the nicest day of the weekend”), so the event was unfortunately cancelled for the day. Fortunately I was able to make it on Sunday, the final day of the Tampa stop.
I loved the pop-up station setup of the event, allowing plenty of space for people to walk through and check out all of the bathing suit styles. I was amazed at how many different collections and styles the company has – and not even all of them were on display at the event! It was awesome to see so many suits – from string bikinis, to tankinis, one-piece suits, and slimming suits – something for every body type.
One of the hottest items Lands’ End showed off, was the Swim Tee collection, with short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and tank-style shirts, offering extra protection from the sun (UVP 50), something that’s needed everywhere, but ESPECIALLY here in Florida. It was really cool to see the tee styles for the whole family, women, men, and for the kids!
After I browsed the collections on site, the “ultimate” part kicked in. I (along with any other ladies that stopped by), was assigned to a dressing room and paired with a stylist. The stylist started by asking me things I liked and didn’t like in regards to bathing suits, and then proceeded to take my measurements, to ensure she was choosing the correct size for me and also for me to be knowledgeable about what my true size is.
There are FOUR key measurements when it comes to bathing suits, and you can definitely use these for other clothing you buy as well! Bust, Waist, Hips, and Torso. You can easily take these at home if you need to re-check yours!
Although I had a general idea of what size I am, I didn’t realize that petite tops were an option for me (big thanks to my stylist for suggesting it)! It was kind of a “duh” moment for me, no wonder sleeves on shirts are sometimes a little too long for me. Have I been shopping in the wrong section this whole time?!
My stylist picked out some pretty great suit options for me to try! Although some of them didn’t look so great on me (we can’t all look like Gisele), I found two looks in particular I really loved. A beautiful deep purple bikini from the Beach Club Collection (I’m holding it up below) and the fab Colorblock Swim Tee, because I turn into a lobster within 5 minutes of being in the sun.
