If you could hop in a time machine and travel to another time, when would it be? The past, the future?
I was chatting with my grandparents a couple weeks ago about their lives and how things have changed over the years. They’re in their 80s, so they’ve lived through some pretty big events like The Great Depression, a few wars, and inventions of things like the dishwasher, microwave, AC in cars, computers, phones in homes, mobile phones, internet, etc. Some pretty big things that I couldn’t begin to imagine life without!
When my mom and I visited London last year, we learned so much about life in the late 1800s on our Jack the Ripper tour and a bit of history about the early 1000s to late 1600s during our visit at the Tower of London. Hearing how life was during those periods were even crazier! At that point in time there were no photographs (only in the late 1800s did the insanely creepy-looking photos pop up – although I’m sure it looked great to them), the men made all the decisions, and bathing wasn’t the norm.
But despite how different and pretty of awful-sounding times were back then, it’s amazing to look back on how far we’ve come. I can’t even begin to imagine what life will be like in another 100, 500, 1000 years from now! But I digress. I think it’d be pretty interesting to hop into a time machine for a few days and peek at life in other times.
Because I’ve learned so much about them over the years, I think my top 3 would be: Ancient Rome/Greece, the “Middle Ages” (although PLEASE not let there be any barbaric people eating chicken legs.. I know there will be though. UGH!), and the “Roaring 20s.”
If you could hop in a time machine, what points in history would you want to visit? And why?
