My full Washington DC trip recap will be posted soon, but in the meantime, I’m excited to tell you all about our stay at The George, part of Kimpton Hotels, located on the border of Downtown DC and Capitol Hill. Can you guess who this hotel is named after?
The George completed a renovation last spring, which we could definitely tell when walking into the lobby. Modern and sleek, it was a great first impression before heading up to our room.
The first thing we noticed when walking into the room was an adorable countertop setup with a single-cup Keurig machine + K-Cups, along with a notecard, a bottle of wine, and some snacks waiting on the counter. What a welcome!
Upon opening up the cabinets at the bottom of the counter, we found a fully stocked mini bar (we were handed a key at check-in) with just about every popular drink you can think of. While these are an additional cost, if you sign up for Kimpton’s Karma Rewards program, you’ll receive a $10 credit to go toward mini bar expenses.
Across from the counter/mini bar area, was the bathroom. I loved how spacious it was and that it included a shower AND tub! Also, rather than including tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, full bottles of Essentiel Elements products were mounted on the shower wall!
Outside of the bathroom was the living/bedroom area, complete with a desk and chairs, a TV on the wall, and a pretty comfy lounge chair and ottoman.
I still can’t get over how cute the bedding was with the George Washington uniform look! In fact, there were GW vibes via artwork throughout the hotel in a very cool style. We loved each piece of art that we saw hanging!
Heading out the door, we caught a glimpse of the “hall closet,” complete with animal print bathrobes, an umbrella, iron board, and a yoga mat! You can even call down and have them set up your mat at a certain time, so it’s ready for you when you get back. This hotel really thinks of everything!
Last but not least, the “do not disturb” signs. Normally, they’re pretty standard and boring. But I really got a kick out of both sides of the sign! Way to take advantage of the brand!
The George also has a restaurant, Bistro Bis, that looked delicious! We didn’t have time to stop in since we were out exploring DC most of the time, but it never was empty when we passed by! Another bonus, is the daily “Evening Wine Hour” from 5-6 p.m. If you’re back to freshen up before dinner, this is definitely something to take advantage of.
I can’t say enough great things about this hotel, we loved it! It was centrally located to The Capitol, White House, National Mall, and Union Station/the Metro for easy travels to other areas in the city (or outside of if you need to get to Reagan Airport or an Amtrak).
If you find yourself in DC, this is the place to stay!
