10 Travel Hacks + Win A Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus Travel Kit!

While we’re still in peak travel season, I thought it only appropriate to share some travel hacks as you wrap up your summer travel and start gearing up for fall/winter trips!

  1. Roll your clothes instead of folding – it’s a huge space saver!
  2. Pack your socks in your shoes.
  3. Scan + email yourself a copy of your passport/ID in case of loss or theft.
  4. Use day of the week pill holders for jewelry storage – no tangled necklaces!
  5. If you’re checking your bag, pack your essentials + an extra outfit just in case your luggage gets lost.
  6. Bring a light jacket/cardigan with you on the plane – it usually gets pretty chilly!
  7. Download your airline’s app for quick access to flight updates and your boarding pass.
  8. Call your credit card company if you’re traveling overseas, so they don’t flag your account for fraud.
  9. Wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane to save space in your suitcase (esp helpful if you’re using carry-on luggage only).
  10. Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol and caffeine, since they’ll dehydrate you!

One last thing to keep you company on your travels from the awesome people at Downy –  a Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus Travel Kit! One lucky reader will win this kit, which includes 4 travel necessities:

  • (1) Travel Toiletry Bag
  • (1) Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus (travel size)
  • (1) Dreft Stain Remover Pen (travel size)
  • (1) Hooded Neck Pillow

I can’t even begin to tell you how great the Wrinkle Releaser is! I hate the process of ironing, and this is a great alternative to it! Also, the stain remover. If you’re prone to spilling or travel with someone who is, this is great to keep in your bag! Plus, I can’t even begin to tell you how cool the hooded neck pillow is – SO great if you want to get your nap on!

I always roll my clothes too! :)

I’ve never thought of scanning my passport, but that is brilliant! I also always wear a sweater and my bulkiest shoes on the plane, and I just recently started wearing a scarf because it doubles as a blanket!

    • August 8, 2015 / 11:32 PM

Thanks! The scarf idea is great, I’ll have to keep that in mind for my upcoming flights!

I like to roll my clothes and try to pack neutral shoes that match most things. I have never thought about scanning my ID but that is brilliant!!

    • August 8, 2015 / 11:57 PM

It’s always a struggle to narrow down the shoes, so neutral ones are a great idea!

Love this! My favorite is keeping Skype minutes handy on my phone in case I need to make phone calls internationally.

    • August 8, 2015 / 11:34 PM

I’ve never used Skype for calls when Wi-Fi isn’t available, so this is a great idea! The international call charges get pretty pricey on the regular phone plan!

I keep all my toiletries in a see through container so it’s easy to grab and see things when I need them!

    • August 8, 2015 / 11:58 PM

That’s super helpful, thanks for sharing!

Great travel tips! I always travel with protein bars just in case I have blood sugar issues and it’s nice to pack a few snacks.

    • August 8, 2015 / 11:58 PM

So true! I do the same, especially since you never know when you’ll get hit with a delay!

  9. August 7, 2015 / 11:58 AM

Yes!! Rolling your clothes saves so much space, not to mention it saves nicer clothes from getting wrinkled :) I need to remember the socks and shoes tip. That’s so helpful!

  10. August 9, 2015 / 12:53 PM

Excellent tips! :) I shall remember them next Thursday when I fly!

These are great tips! The only other one I can think of right now is to pack your smaller purse in a larger bag or backpack to maximize your carry on.
