Last week, McDonald’s released a brand new menu item, exclusive to the Tampa Bay area… the Chicken Burger!
When I popped in to try the new item, I learned an interesting tidbit about McDonalds’ product history from an employee who’s been with the company for over 30 years! Did you know that several of the menu items found across the U.S. started at the local level? Can you guess which items? Find out at the bottom of this post!
The Chicken Burger was created jointly by local TB McDonald’s operators, and is a healthier option at the fast-food joint, at under 400 calories.
The burger is made of a blend of white and dark ground chicken, and is available in two styles – the Classic (contains red onions, lettuce, tomato, and ranch dressing) and the Signature (contains grilled onions, tomato, and a tangy signature sauce).
Since I’m not a huge fan of ranch (except as a veggie dip), I opted for the Signature. Overall, the burger was pretty tasty! The only downside was that after half the burger was gone, things got a bit messy with the sauce! This would be a tough item to eat in the car (at least while driving). But would I order it again at my next visit? Absolutely!
If you’re local to the TB area, you can take advantage of the deal below and receive a free medium fry and drink with the purchase of a chicken burger (valid through Sunday, 9/27).
P.S. Still wondering about the local-to-national menu items? The McRib (seasonal), Egg McMuffin, and Fish Filet!
