It’s hard to believe, but I’ve already been back almost a week from my amazing trip to Europe! I have so much to share from hotels and restaurants, to daily adventures, so bear with me as I get all of the posts together to share with you! Today I’m excited to share the first post on the trip, a review of our hotel in our first city, Munich!
As with any trip, I spent quite a bit of time looking for the perfect hotel for us to plant roots for 2 nights, and despite it being slightly removed from the city center, decided on Hotel München Palace. The hotel’s about a 10-minute drive (20 minute walk) into the main part of town, in a very nice, mostly residential neighborhood. This gave us an idea of what life was like for locals, even seeing several people out and about walking and biking with their dogs!
We arrived at the hotel just after 8 a.m. (gotta love those red eyes/overnight flights to Europe), and were prepared to check our bags since check-in isn’t until 3 p.m. But we were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was already prepared, when the old-fashioned room key was handed over!
We loved the purple color and accents all around the room. It’s my mom’s favorite color, so she couldn’t stop commenting on how much she loved it! Even the lotion and the body wash in the bathroom were purple!
I’m always curious about the toiletries in the bathroom as well, and was pleasantly surprised to find lux brand, Molton Brown London both in the shower and on the sink! A robe and slipper set were also hung up for each of us, which we were happy to lounge in at the end of the days, post-shower!
One of my favorite perks of being a guest of the hotel, was the minibar in our room. It’s probably not the typical mini bar you’re thinking of, where everything is insanely overpriced. This one contained beer, Coke, Diet Coke, orange and apple juice, and still and sparkling water. FOR FREE. And restocked daily, again, at no extra charge. So amazing!
Each morning we woke up to a dream. A fabulous, fresh, delicious, breakfast. Meats, cheeses, nuts, juices, and BROT (bread) galore!
As if the breakfast weren’t already amazing enough, we were seated in the coziest little corner and able to enjoy our breakfast buffet (with eggs made to order), while listening to Christmas music!
My favorite surprise during our stay overall though, was a day that totally slipped my mind with the combination of jetlag and so much excitement being in Germany. As we opened our door to head down to breakfast, there was a little gift bag hanging on our door. It was a present for St. Nicholas Day!
We had a wonderful stay at the 5-star boutique hotel, and I’ll definitely return the next time I find myself in Munich!
