Valentine’s Day with The Peanuts Gang

I’m excited to announce that I’m continuing my partnership with Peanuts this year, and will be bringing you lots of fun Peanuts things throughout the year! Woohoo! Today’s the first big one for 2016, a celebration of the upcoming holiday of love with the Peanuts gang!

CB Valentines

Dozens of Valentine’s Day comics were created for Peanuts over the years, many of which were centered around the fact that poor Charlie Brown didn’t receive cards, despite being eager to get them! Other times, it was around CB’s desire to give a valentine to the Little Red-Haired girl, but never quite managing the nerve to do it!

Peanuts Valentines

Some behind-the-scenes things you might not know are that the Little Red-Haired Girl was actually inspired by Charles Schulz’s real-life love interest, Donna Johnson Wold, whom he dated for a few years. However, when Schulz proposed to her, she turned him down, saying she was already engaged. Later down the line, Schulz was inspired to use his wife Jeannie Schulz’s nickname for him (Sweet Babboo) in the comic strip, as Sally’s pet name for her crush Linus!

Sweet Babboo

Just like the beloved Christmas special we talked about in December, Peanuts also has two adorable Valentine’s Day specials! Both Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Valentine will be airing on February 12 from 8-9 p.m. EST. Mark your calendars!

Looking for other ways to celebrate with the Peanuts Gang for the upcoming holiday? There are SO many adorable Peanuts products you can pick up as a gift for others (or yourself) or throw a Valentine’s Day party with! Didn’t know that I wasn’t already following you on social media, but I guess I am now. Love the peanuts. Wish there was more of them around these days for my kids to enjoy.

Thank you :) You’ll have to tune into the specials airing! Have they seen The Peanuts Movie?

Yes! There are so many different specials and they’re all great! The Peanuts Gang is so relatable!

These are very cute! I have a cousin whose family is obsessed with Peanuts and they named their daughter Lucy- I thought that was very sweet!

    • February 2, 2016 / 8:41 PM

That’s awesome! I’m sure they’ll keep the Peanuts tradition alive in their family for generations to come!

  5. February 2, 2016 / 5:22 AM

So cute!! I adore Peanuts characters, and didn’t know any of that back story! I always loved the little red haired girl since I’m a redhead but I think I’ll take that back. Geesh!

    • February 2, 2016 / 8:42 PM

It’s so interesting isn’t it?! Charles Schulz put in little bits and pieces from his life into the comic. The blanket Linus carries around is because Schulz’s daughter had one that went everywhere with her!
