Thursday Thoughts + Disney Giveaway

We’ve made it to Thursday, which means just one more day (plus a few hours) until the weekend! Things have been nonstop busy for me the past couple weeks, so I’m looking forward to some R&R this weekend, along with catching up on blog stuff, and cleaning! I also found out that today is National Wine Day! I’ll be sitting on the couch with my glass during Scandal  tonight!

There’s a pretty big giveaway at the bottom of this post – a $500 Disney gift card! So if you have a trip to the “most magical place on Earth,” be sure to enter! But before you do, here are some random thoughts for the day:

  • This post on U.S. Presidents when they were “young and hunky” is hysterical. It’s amazing that some of the photos/portraits are even in existence still! Some of the super old ones are of course, creepy, but nonetheless this is quite entertaining.
  • Fellow fans of TWD, talk to me. I’m still not over the craziness of the mid-season premiere Sunday. SO GOOD. Of course, there’s lots of speculation as to what’s going to happen next. This one really has my prediction gears turning (and I hope it’s not true)!
  • I’ve been going to bed so much later than I want to lately, which always makes the alarm clock time extra rough in the mornings. I’ve only really been hitting my sleep goal of 8+ hours once or twice a week (weekends) so I need to start getting back into a better routine! Is anyone else having the same problem? How do you make sure you get into bed at a decent time?
  • Apple posted an open letter to customers/the world this week, addressing why they’re going to fight against the FBI/government’s request to unlock the phone of one of the San Bernardino, CA attackers. It seems like a no-brainer that they’d comply, but the points that they make do seem valid. There’s so much controversy surrounding the topic, so I’m very curious how this will end up.
  • The Oscars are next weekend and I still have quite a few movies to see! I found this awesome list on where to stream Oscar-nominated movies, so I’m hoping to at least watch one or two this weekend. Do you have a favorite?

Right!!! So happy to help provide laughs :) Have a great rest of your weekend!

OMG TWD was INSANE on Sunday! I just read that post too, and I just don’t even know what to think about the possibility of one of those characters being gone! I feel like it’s just wrong if it’s Glenn after all the turmoil that we’ve already had with him. I know exactly what you mean too about needing some R&R, and I hope that you get it this weekend.

    • February 21, 2016 / 9:57 AM

Right!!! I don’t know how they’re going to keep it up this week/through the rest of the season. I can’t imagine losing either character, but especially not Daryl!

Love your Thursday updates, and like you, i LOVE my 8+ hours but have been going to bed way to late ;/ – My hubs if TWD fan, and he was talking about its insanity, i just dont get it haha. LOVE this giveaway! My hubs and I want to go to Disneyland for our Babymoon before our little one gets here this summer and winning would give us the money to do so! Thanks for being a host for this!

    • February 21, 2016 / 12:40 PM

Thanks, Mandi! You definitely need to start at the beginning of TWD because SO much has happened you’ll be totally lost without it. It’s such a good show though! And a babymoon at Disney sounds like so much fun! Good luck :)

I so have to check out the presidential blog post! I’m sure it is hilarious! I don’t watch TWD but I know a lot of people who do. Maybe one day I will get addicted to it as well. Yah for National Wine Day and it’s perfect for it being on a Thursday with #TGIT. I love Scandal & HTGAWM! Though I think last week both of them were a little on the boring side. I have to have at least 8+ hrs of sleep each night if I want to be remotely functioning the next day. I try to make sure that I get everything done that is important that night to be able to get in bed at an early time.

    • February 21, 2016 / 12:42 PM

It is! I’m hoping for some faster paced episodes with TGIT, I agree that they haven’t been as thrilling lately! I started trying to set an alarm around the time I need to start getting ready for bed, but it doesn’t always work.. sometimes I hit snooze on it lol.

My husband and I have been talking about the Apple letter all day long! We’re both torn; I can see why it would be important for them to comply in the case they are assisting them with, but at the same time, I’m glad they are standing up for my privacy rights! If they don’t keep the government in check, who will?

    • February 21, 2016 / 10:01 AM

I keep going back and forth on it too! It’s true that once some kind of hacking software is created, it’s never just going to be used for a one-off and it’s kind of scary that it could get into the wrong hands! But at the same time, there could be helpful info on that shooter’s phone. Ugh, it’s a tough one.

  6. February 18, 2016 / 9:15 PM

TWD was SO crazy! I am 100% supportive of Apple and the reasons they’re resisting. Creating this kind of software opens up a can of worms that puts everyone at risk.

    • February 21, 2016 / 12:43 PM

I know!! I’m hoping they keep the momentum up, but it’s going to be tough to top that episode from last week! It’ll be interesting to see where the Apple privacy stuff goes. It’s too bad they really can’t do a one-off to crack the shooter’s phone – it really does open up a can of worms doing so!

I am LOVING this young and hunky President’s article. SO SO funny!
