6 Music Festival Must-Haves + Giveaway

Summer is in full swing, and so are many of the big music festivals around the world. As a veteran attendee of many concerts and festivals, I can say, there’s nothing quite like live music and being a part of the energetic atmosphere! Another thing I’ve learned? There are a few things you should always make sure to pack, that I consider music festival must-haves! Here they are.

Gearing up for a music festival but not sure what to pack in your bag? Read my list of festival must-haves!

Portable Phone Charger

A dead phone is the last thing you want to deal with at a music festival, especially if you get split up from your group. Having a backup battery case or portable phone charger will save you all the troubles and let you keep up with festival happenings on social media and of course, snapping all the photos and videos your heart desires.

Sun Protection

Whether you’re fair-skinned (like me) or not, you’ll want to apply sunscreen prior to heading out for the festival. These days tend to be pretty long, so be sure to carry a small bottle with you to reapply. Otherwise you might be dealing with a few days of aloe and an unfortunate sunburn! Also, pack a pair of shades! Squinting/not being able to see things because you’re blinded by the sun is never fun!

Band-Aids/Moleskin

Even with the comfiest of shoes, blisters can start to form when you’re walking around all day. Carry a few band-aids or moleskin to save yourself the pain later on.

Cottonelle® Flushable Cleansing Cloths

When it coms to outdoor music festivals, the bathroom situation isn’t always pleasant. In fact, more often than not, there’s a serious shortage (or complete outage) of toilet paper. Carrying your own stash with you will be a HUGE lifesaver. Trust me on this one! Plus, Cottonelle® with CleanRipple® Texture is designed to clean better, so you’re clean & confident enough to go commando. These boxes are easy to stow in your bag and will keep you and your crew feeling ready to rock out!

Hand Sanitizer

Building on the above-mentioned bathroom situation, hand sanitizer is a must! It also comes in handy when dealing with any food/drink and just all the germs in general.

Poncho

You never know when the sky’s going to open up above you and have a torrential downpour begin. Pack a poncho (one that’s a little sturdier so it’s not clinging to you like saran wrap) to keep yourself (and your belongings) dry. It makes dancing in the rain so much better!

Check out these music festival must-haves!

  • I am looking into getting a portable battery charger for my oversees trip. Do you have a brand that you like that you would recommend? One that can charge a cell phone multiple times on a single charge?

    • I really like Mophie and Jackery (both linked to in this post). Neither can charge multiple times, but they will give you a solid recharge during the day and then you can charge up again at night!

  • Emily Kib

These are all great things to have with you! Especially when traveling! (and attending music festivals)

    • Thanks, Emily! So true – I bring a lot of these along with me when traveling too!

  • Taylor Smith

Great tips!! Definitely a solid yes to all of those things.

  • Great tips! Hand sanitizer, portable recharger and sunscreen are always in my bag!

  • Elizabeth Johnson

These are wonderful and practical tips! Thank you!

  • Chelsea Mize

The Cottonelle Wet Wipes are a brilliant idea. I totally wouldn’t have thought to bring those! Thanks for the useful info :)

    • They really come in handy! Keep them in mind for your next concert, festival, or outing!

  • Marissa Pedersen

I completely agree with everything you included! I go to many music festivals and always have these items with me!

    • Thanks, Marissa! Which festival has been your favorite?

      • Marissa Pedersen

        Coachella :)

  • YES! Thanks for including the chargers! I’ve been looking for some but didn’t know any good ones!

    • Of course! The ones I included are my favorites :)

  • Julie McLelland

So many great tips! I need to pin this for later use!

  • Leigh

This is so true! These tips are musts, especially the phone charger.

  • Kari Guastella

So very yes to bringing those wet wipes!

    • Thanks for reading, Ivana! Great minds think alike :)

  • I am not a festival-person, but I gave it some thoughts and I might try attend a couple next year. These tips will prove very handy, in case I decide to give festivals a try.

  • A poncho is always good to have! It never fails on the day of the concert it looks all sunny and pretty and then the rain hits-haha

    • Oh yeah! The torrential downpour always comes out of nowhere. The worst!

  • I definitely need a portable phone charger. Ever since I started using snapchat, my phone eats up my battery life!

    • They’re life changing to carry around with you!

  • I TOTALLY agree with all of these must-haves. I used to go to Austin City Limits every year and you basically named my packing list for every day of the festival!

  • Candy Kage

You hit the nail on the head with everything you listed to bring along. Especially about the bathrooms.

    • Thanks, Candy! Public/outdoor restrooms are always the worst!

  • You can definitely find yourself in a tight situation, these are all great ideas!

  • Joules (Pocketful of Joules)

A portable phone charger is a total necessity and I’m actually charging mine up for a trip right now!

  • oh gosh I’ve never been to a festival where a coffee shop wasn’t a moment a way to escape to if needed!! So this is great!!

    • Wow, that’s awesome! All of the festivals I’ve been to are blocked off so you’re stuck with the awful bathrooms :( Definitely keep these in mind if you run into the same situation!

  • Won’t be attending any music festivals this summer mainly because I can’t imagine being out in the heat all day and on my feet this far into my pregnancy but great must-have’s!! I’m all about the portable phone charger, sun protection, and hand sanitizer. I always bring layers since you never know how the weather might change and in the Bay Area it always cools down at night!

    • I don’t blame you, Laura! Maybe post-baby you’ll find yourself at one. I bet SF has some pretty awesome festivals!

  • Totally on point! And a portable phone charger is an absolute must, especially now when we are constantly on the phone Instagramming and Snapping ;)

    • Thank you! So true! All the apps drain our batteries insanely fast!

  • Yes to a portable phone charger! I also always carry around moleskin with me. Walking long distances for long periods of time always kill my feet. Thank god for that stuff!!

    • Seriously! Shoes are great and all but sometimes they can be a huge inconvenience! I wish the cute ones came broken in already (without someone else wearing them), haha.

  • Donnica Smalls

Yes to all of these things. I’d also add a water bottle. It’s so easy to get dehydrated being out in the heat all day.

    • So true! I wish more festivals had free water stations – hopefully they’ll get on board with it soon!

  • This list will come in handy for me. I’m heading to Austin City Limits Festival in the fall. I would never have thought to bring moleskin and the wipes!

    • How awesome! That one’s been on my list to attend. I hope you have a great time!

  • Mary Welby

I would add a change of shoes. Haha. I find that after a day of standing, my feet become adjusted to my shoes and start to hurt in them. I like to have a few so that I have that comfort. Water is a must. And the wipes are brilliant!

    • So true! The day after the festival my favorite is just vegging out and not walking anywhere!

  • I always manage to forget the sunscreen and come to regret it. Great tips!

    • Ugh, me too! Hopefully we’ll be better about remembering it going forward!

  • Great list! I’m definitely going to check out these Cottonelle wipes! I got to the Stagecoach Festival every year in Indio, CA and I use the heck out of wipes! haha.

    • Thanks, Christine! The wipes would most definitely come in handy! What type of music is the Stagecoach Festival? I’ll have to check that one out!
