3 Reasons You’ll Love Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Remake

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! The only thing overshadowing the day of shamrocks, leprechauns, and green beer, is Disney’s HIGHLY anticipated Beauty and the Beast movie, which is officially out in theaters today!

When I first heard that a “live action” version of the movie was being done I was a bit skeptical. I mean, we all know the original 90s cartoon version so well and love it, so the stakes were high. But after seeing the new Beauty and the Beast, I can assure you, it’s nothing short of amazing! You all know how the story goes, so I won’t bore you with recapping the plot, but I will tell you a few of the reasons I loved this remake!

The Cast

Honestly, this is enough reason to go see Beauty and the Beast! The film was PERFECTLY cast, especially with Emma Watson as Belle, Luke Evans as Gaston, and my ultimate favorite, Josh Gad (who also played Olaf in Frozen) as LeFou.

The Backstory + New Songs

This version of Beauty and the Beast actually gives us a little more backstory than the original. We finally see why Belle’s mom wasn’t in the picture, more about the prince’s lavish life pre-curse, and get 3 new songs! Plus, Celine Dion (who sings the original song we love so much) also makes a comeback with a new song for the movie!

I must’ve watched my VHS tape of the original Beauty and the Beast a hundred times (probably more) growing up, so this film brought back all the feels of my childhood. While there was some new info brought to light (as I mentioned in the previous section), it didn’t deter too far from the original plot line, which I appreciated!

Are you planning to see Beauty and the Beast this weekend? What are your thoughts on Disney remaking the classic movie?

IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! Everything I wanted and sooo much more!!! They did a spectacular job of staying true to the story we all remember from our youth AND adding in new content (mostly taken from the Broadway show version) AND giving us enough new details and context to make it a modernized story. LOVED IT!!

    • April 30, 2017 / 12:50 PM

SAME! I can’t wait to see what they do with the others they’re working on! Disney’s just the best!

  10. March 20, 2017 / 8:03 AM

I saw it on Friday instead of going out to drink green beer… NO REGRETS!!!

It was SO amazing! Loved the new songs and backstory (they didn’t overdo it) and how true to the original they stayed, the first scene in the village was nearly shot for shot!

Disney things definitely > green beer! I loved all of it too! Part of me wants to put them on side by side when the new one comes out on iTunes/DVD!
