We’ve made it to the weekend! This week has been a crazy one, so I’m beyond ready for this 3-day weekend. Who’s with me?! I hope your long weekend is filled with lots of fun adventures, and of course, some downtime because that extra day of rest is SO nice!
If you’re looking for something good to binge-watch this weekend, I have you covered! And if you have any favorites to add to the list, be sure to drop them in the comments!
Cable Girls (Netflix Original)
If you like a good love story, suspense, and shows set in decades past (the 1920s to be specific), this show’s for you! It’s actually Netflix’s first original series in Spanish, but they knew it’d be such a hit that they did voice overs in English so you can enjoy without subtitles. The only little nuance is that since they did voice overs, the lips of the people speaking don’t always match up. It drove me kind of crazy the first episode and a half, but then I was too into the complicated lives of the four main women and the soap opera style lives they live!
The Man in the High Castle (Amazon Original)
Have you ever thought about what the world would be like if the Nazis and Japan had won WWII? This Amazon original takes us through that world, where the U.S. is divided into three parts – an area controlled by the Japanese, an area controlled by the Nazis, and a buffer zone between the two. But despite the oppression, a movement is under way for freedom, and when films start to turn up that show a different world (where the U.S. won), things start to heat up!
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (The CW)
My list is FILLED with drama/thriller type shows. Can you tell I have a favorite genre? So I thought I’d throw in one of my favorite comedies too – Crazy Ex-Girlfriend! This one will keep you laughing quite a bit at the ridiculous antics of just that – a crazy ex-girlfriend.
The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu Original)
There are no words to describe the craziness of this show! The Handmaid’s Tale is based on a book by Margaret Atwood, and depicts a totalitarian society in what once was the United States. The women are treated as property of the state, and birth rates are plummeting, with only a handful of women able to have children. Without spoiling anything, I’ll just say this is one of the CRAZIEST shows I’ve ever seen. It’ll definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and give you all kinds of emotions!
Somewhere Between (ABC)
The first season of ABC’s newest summer thriller drama is still airing, but it’s a good one! I DVR-ed the pilot a few months ago and finally watched it earlier this week. A couple episodes later, I’m hooked, and very intrigued! There’s a killer on the loose and a weird twist of fate brings two strangers together in a Groundhog Day-style, where they relive past days over and try to intervene with fate. Lots of suspense and mystery!
Riverdale (The CW)
Season 2 of The CW’s popular show premieres next month, so use this weekend to catch up! It’s your typical high school drama with lots of secrets and questions surrounding a murder of one of the students in town. I loved reading Archie comics when I was growing up, so I also love that this show is a modern day twist on the series, including all of the main characters, Betty, Veronica, Archie, and Jughead Jones.
Narcos (Netflix Original)
Season 3 of Narcos hits Netflix today! This show dives into the world of Pablo Escobar and the other big players in the Colombian drug cartel in the 1980s. The fact that it’s based on true events (obviously dramatized a bit), makes it even more interesting to watch! The last season ended with a bang (literally) so I’m curious to see how the storyline continues!
