Best Bites for the Mid-Day Snack Attack

Anyone who works in an office can attest to the mid-day snack attack that always hits between lunch and the end of the day – and sometimes even earlier, between breakfast and lunch. Rather than bringing in a bag of chips or box of cookies, consider these 5 snacks below as alternates. All under 100 calories, these snacks are especially ideal for us cubicle folks who find ourselves reaching for a little energy boost more often than we should sometimes. Further, all of these snacks are great on the taste buds.

Newman’s Own 100 Calorie Natural Popcorn
Popcorn is one of my favorite foods. Ever. Unless you get heavily buttered or put other fancy toppings on your popcorn, chances are no matter which kind you get, it’s going to be healthier for you than most other snacks. This particular brand of microwaveable popcorn is especially good for you with no trans  fats or hydrogenated oils.

Dole Pineapple Fruit Single Serve Cups
In perfect snack size, one Dole fruit cup has 45 calories. Although the cups previously weren’t as healthy for you, the company has improved upon the ingredients and nixed the sugary syrup. In addition to helping you reach your proper servings of fruit for the day, this snack is also easy to grab on the run and saves you the time from cutting up a pineapple yourself.

Skinny Cow Milk Chocolate Dreamy Clusters
Snacking on chocolate is inevitable. And as much as I love that candy dish filled with various chocolates, I know it’s not really good for me.. Especially considering it’s impossible to only eat one. So rather than stuff my face with countless bite-size chocolates, I enjoy a package of Skinny Cow’s Milk Chocolate Dreamy Clusters – only 120 calories. The post-snack guilt isn’t as bad this way!

Sargento Natural Blend Cheese Sticks
Despite the rumor that dairy isn’t good for you, especially when you’re trying to lose weight, I recommend Sargento’s delicious cheese sticks. For a mere 80 calories/stick, you’ll want to consider bringing in this snack to satisfy your hunger.

Annie’s Organic Honey Wheat Pretzel Bunnies
One of my favorite snack brands is Annie’s. Fortunately for me, it’s an organic brand which means in addition to it being great on the taste buds, it’s also good for your health. A 7-oz. bag of these pretzels only adds up to 100 calories. And if you’re pulling them from the box, a 7-oz. bag is equal to 32 pretzels. Not bad!
