Peanuts-Themed Valentine’s Day Party + Giveaway

I’m SO excited to be continuing my ambassadorship with Peanuts Worldwide this year, as we gear up for the release of the Peanuts movie this fall! And with Valentine’s Day a little over a week away, I’m sharing an exclusive cupcake recipe AND giving away an incredible prize pack filled with goodies for you to host your own fab Valentine’s Day party at home (enter to win at the bottom of the post)!

Last weekend, 10-year-old actress Francesca Capaldi, who plays a character in the upcoming, “The Peanuts Movie,” hosted a Valentine’s Day-themed party with Snoopy and Belle (his sister) at the Park Hyatt in Carlsbad, California.

Party guests tried out the latest fashion from Snoopy and Belle’s line at Target, decorate cupcakes (baked by renowned Chef Franck Riffaud)with decorations from, and watch the classic Peanuts special, Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown (which will air on ABC, Friday, February 13 at 8 p.m. EST). What’s better than a fun party with all of your friends (+ family)?!

If the cupcakes by renowned Chef Franck Riffaud are sounding especially awesome to you, you’ll be excited about this. I have the recipe! Although I haven’t done my baking yet, it’s on the agenda for this weekend. Don’t have any plans? Well now you do! Pre-Valentine’s Day baking – yay! Here’s the recipe for the exclusive Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake/Cupcakes (yields one 9″cake or 16-18 cupcakes):

What You’ll Need (Ingredients):
Flour 3 Cups
Sugar 3 Cups
Salt 1 Tbsp
Baking Soda 1 Tbsp & 1 Tsp
Water (Boiling) ½ Cup
Cocoa Powder ½ Cup
Buttermilk ½ cups
Vegetable Oil 1 Cup
Eggs 3
Vanilla 1 Tbsp

Combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs and vanilla together with a whisk. Place the flour, sugar, salt, and soda together in a mixing bowl. Using the whip attachment on an electric mixer, add the liquid ingredients that were previously whisked, mix only until smooth. Boil the water and add it to the cocoa powder and whisk until smooth. Add the cocoa mixture to the previous batter. Let the batter sit 10 minutes before filling pans. Fill 2-8″ cake pans that have been greased and floured. Fill pans half full. Bake in oven at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes. A knife inserted in the center will come out clean. Cool cakes before using.

And that’s not all, guys! Peanuts Worldwide is hooking one lucky Small Towns & City Lights reader up with an amazing prize pack – a Valentine’s Day Party-in-a-Box! Meaning you can party just like the celebs :) Prize details are as follows (picture at top of post):
