At-Home Yoga

I mentioned a couple months ago that I decided not to renew my gym membership when my year contract was up. Instead, I wanted to save some money (more for travel, yay!) and try some alternative workouts at home. My latest home workout venture? Yoga.

I’m not talking the crazy, intense poses (because I’m far from being at that stage). But I’m amazed by the people who can do them! The stretching poses are more my speed at this moment in time.

To help me get started on my at-home yoga journey, I’ve been using the Yoga Sequencing Deck, which features 100 cards with different yoga poses from beginner to advanced levels, for creating at-home or class-building practices.

I’ve enjoyed yoga classes I’ve taken in studios, but often found that we were spending a lot of time on poses that I didn’t care much for (*cough* downward dog for like 10 minutes *cough*), so I love that this deck offers so many different options for you to craft your own practice, based on skill level or target areas you want to focus on. Plus, you can utilize them to create your yoga practice for as long or as short as you want!

Below are a few of my most-used cards in the deck. They’re great stretching ones, which are super helpful to do in general, or before starting any other workout (e.g. walking, running, strength training).

Do you yoga? What are your favorite poses?

Disclosure: I received the Yoga Sequencing Deck for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

I have been wanting to do more yoga at home…the times I can go the cheap yoga studios don’t offer classes.

    • Ugh, I hate that! You should def give it a try, it’s cheaper than cheap :)

  • I haven’t done yoga at home in a while, but I think I need to get back into it! It’s such a great way to strengthen your body. I love your mat!

I do yoga at home, but it is a mixture of my favorite poses from the classes I have taken. I need to get a room where I can set up a dvd or something. These cards are pretty cool.

    • I hear ya! I have a hard time remembering poses sometimes so the cards are super helpful. DVDs are a great idea too! If you find a good one, let me know!
