Tasty Thursday: Salisbury Steak

I’ve had my crockpot/slow cooker for a little over 2 years now, and I’m a little embarrassed (but also proud) to say that I finally used it for the first time this week! I don’t know what took me so long to try it out (other than time and me not wanting to mess the cooking up), but it was extremely easy to use!

The recipe I tried (and slightly tweaked) was from Allrecipes for Salisbury Steak. Yum! It was a bit of a hybrid recipe, in the sense that I used both the stove and crockpot, but nonetheless super easy to follow and delicious!

What You’ll Need (Ingredients)

Directions

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion soup mix, and milk. Then, shape into meat patties.

Heat oil on skillet over stove on medium-high heat and cook until meat is brown on both sides (optional: coat in flour for quicker cooking).

Place cooked patties into crockpot.

In a medium bowl, mix together the cream of chicken soup, water, and aus jus mix. Then, pour over patties in crockpot.

Option to add in veggies here (I threw some carrots in).

Turn crockpot on “low” and let sit for 5 hours. Then, enjoy!

  • I mostly use my dutch oven in place of my crock pot these days, but I love making Korean beef or braised beef (like Barbacoa from Chipotle) in the crock pot. Salisbury steak takes be way back. Such a nostalgic and soul-warming dish.
