Last week I made my way down to South Tampa (before the crazy monsoon/flooding weather began) for a fun Summer Sample Stroll with the Tampa Bay Bloggers at Hyde Park Village.
Despite having lived in Tampa for a good chunk of my life, I’ve only made it down to the area (Tampa is much larger than you might think) a couple of times, and it’s changed quite a bit over the years, so this time, it was completely new to me.. again. The TBB visit couldn’t come at a more perfect time though! While there are some stores that have been in the Village for over a decade, there are a ton of new restaurants and stores, and some others that will be opening within the next year.
The first stop? Blue Moon Trading Company. An incredible home decor and interior design store. I loved the rustic look combined with a modern, cozy flare. I’ll definitely be stealing some ideas from this store for my future home look!
Next up was Juxtapose, a clothing boutique filled with beachy home decor and accessories, and a ton of local products, which was great to see! The item that caught my eye? Blinged out pepper spray. Could not stop laughing at this!
Paper Source was up next, where the staff showed us how to create some super easy DIY card projects. I learned how to do envelope lining and had NO idea it was so simple! And now that I know what to do, I think I might be sending some hand-written notes via snail mail more often! This is also a store I can spend hours in. I love the unique cards and fun, quirky products!
West Elm also holds some real estate in Hyde Park Village, a store I’ve been wanting to check out for quite some time! In addition to their home decor and furniture, they also carry local products, giving back to the community. And when we strolled through, we were able to check out Blue Salvage’s pop-up shop, which featured a number of handmade items from women around the world. Way cool!
Browsing Salt Pines’ store, we saw a ton of great Florida/southern life items, and these awesome bottle/can holders, that I’ll likely be back for when it’s time to get my Christmas shopping done!
Our stop at Piquant was very refreshing! A French-inspired restaurant, we sampled some delicious food, including my personal favorite, the cronut! Even better, we were able to try a brand new item that wouldn’t be released until a few days later, the banana creme brulee cronut. YES, it’s as amazing as it sounds!
We ended the night at Timpano’s Italian Chophouse for a huge variety of new happy hour menu items to sample, including food and drink! The margherita pizza and truffle mac & cheese though, that’s where it’s at!
Some other notable stops along our stroll?
- Anthropologie – Did you know they do FREE personal styling? And apparently there are some ways to shop + style without breaking the bank (I’ll need to follow up on this).
- Aveda Level Salon – When you think Aveda, normally you think hair. Well this location has it all! Hair, nails, AND massages! I think a day of spa/beauty needs to happen soon.
- Color Me Mine – Creating pottery or painting existing pieces is so much fun! Would definitely come back for this!
- Downtown Dogs – Of course I had to visit the dog store! This place is filled with lots of organic food and high-quality pet products.
If you live in Tampa and haven’t made your way down to Hyde Park Village yet, make some time for it soon! It’s a great place to meet up with friends, go out for a date night, or spend some time with your family.
