Black Friday Traditions + Giveaway

Black Friday is here! There’s a good mix of people opting in and out of it this year, but for me, it’s one tradition I won’t be missing out on! Since high school it’s a fun traditon I’ve had with my mom and best friend, Jazmyne! People always think we’re crazy when I tell them our typical plan of starting out between 10 and 11 p.m. when the Thanksgiving events are over and we’re ready to get our shop on, and contiues on until about 1 or 2 p.m. – yep, straight through the night (and day) shopping.

There aren’t any big doorbusters we head out for. In fact, most of the deals we end up taking advantage of could be purchased online easily. In fact, our plan usually involves getting to the big stores when the big crowds will NOT be around. It’s really just about fun times running around town hitting all of our favorite stores, listening to Christmas tunes, and making multiple stops at Starbucks for red cup drinks (don’t forget to enter the $130 Starbucks gift card giveaway here)!

Are there any big items you’re on the hunt for? Will you be out shopping for Black Friday this year, hiding out at home to do your shopping, or avoiding it all together?

For my final Thanksgiving week giveaway, I’m teaming up with some great bloggers to give away free blog ad spaces, in hopes of saving some of you a few bucks on promotion to put toward your Christmas shopping budget instead. Enter below!

Dustin and I always go to the store about 40 minutes after the doors open; there are still doorbusters still available but there aren’t huge lines to wait in! We always hit up Target & Walmart for the movies!

The Black Friday movie sales get me every time! Did you get any good ones this year? So great that you’re able to avoid the lines, those are the worst!

I don’t go every year, but my mom and I went to a few stores today–we went around 9:30am, which worked perfectly because things had calmed down a bit and there were still some great deals!

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:17 PM

That’s great! Did you pick up anything good? We noticed the crowds started picking up around 10 a.m. and that was our signal to start getting ready to end the day lol.

I saved at least $50 at bath and body works! Apparently they let you combine all coupons that day, as long as they haven’t expired (but they’ll honor coupons three days before and after their expiration dates).

        • December 3, 2015 / 10:04 AM

That’s great! It’s the only day of the year that they allow coupon stacking, and we always fully take advantage of it too! Hope you picked up some good stuff :)

For years and years, my cousins, my mom and my grandma would get up super early to hit the stores on Black Friday. That hasn’t happened in the last few years since my cousins all live too far away and my grandma has decided she hates getting up early, but my mom and my sister and I still go out for a little bit on Black Friday. It’s more of an excuse to hang out together than anything else! :)

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:18 PM

Such a bummer that the whole gang isn’t able to go out together anymore, but great that you can still go with your mom and sister! I hope you were able to get some good deals and that the crowds weren’t too crazy!

The sales over there sound fantastic. Wish I could go.

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:17 PM

There are some good ones! Are there any good sales over by you this time of year?

Rachel, we have our big sales on Boxing Day. Have to get up early to get a car park and fight the crowds!

  5. November 28, 2015 / 12:06 AM

I went and did a little Black Friday damage at Target and then again from my laptop later on in the day.
    It’s so fun.

    xoxo, Jenny

So much damage can be done at Target on a regular day, Black Friday’s even crazier :) Sounds like you got some good stuff!

You are much braver than I am venturing out for that long for Black Friday, but it seems like such a great tradition that you have with your mom and friend! I hope you grabbed some great deals!

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:22 PM

We did, thanks Ashley! It’s always a great time but at the end of the day I’m so ready for a shower and bed!

I usually try an avoid Black Friday. I did order a couple things online. I just don’t love doing the crowds.

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:21 PM

The crowds are the worst! We always plan things out so we avoid the crowds. It’s the only way to do it!

  8. November 30, 2015 / 12:21 AM

I’ve never done Black Friday and I don’t think I will. I don’t like getting up early AND I don’t like fighting for deals! ;-)

    • November 30, 2015 / 11:20 PM

Haha, valid points. We go to the stores at the off times to avoid the crowds and are still able to get the deals! And technically we’re not getting up early since we don’t go to bed on Thanksgiving :P It’s a long day though!

Your Black Friday tradition sounds just like mine! My mom and I head out every year Thanksgiving eve to Black Friday early morning and get home by like 1am! It’s just fun to kick off the holiday season with experiencing all the festivities. Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
