4 Year Blogiversary + A Reader Survey

Normally Monday’s don’t excite me. But there’s an exception for everything and today, I’m excited because today marks my 4-year blogiversary! It’s hard to believe that four years ago I started Small Towns & City Lights (and had recently finished college)! This little hobby of mine has truly turned into a passion and something I’m so proud of.

4-Year blogiversary

When I first started blogging, I just wanted to write. Obviously I wanted people to read, but I was just content writing my little heart away. After I had started working full-time, the time I spent on the blog dwindled, but then I got a wave of inspiration and a desire for new direction for STCL at the end of the second year. I wanted to collaborate more with brands, and I was able to do so quite a bit! My views grew as well, which is a nice feeling, so you’re assured you’re not just rambling to yourself (I know my fellow bloggers feel me on this).

So this space has transformed quite a bit over the last four years, but I’m most proud of the growth and changes on STCL this past year. I was able to increase my collaborations with brands, secured more sponsored posts, grew my following quite a bit, and most importantly, started to connect more with readers and other bloggers.

I’ve never done a reader survey in my four years of blogging, so today, I’m opening one up! It’s 10 questions so shouldn’t take too much fun. Are there things you love? Hate? Would like to see? I’d greatly appreciate any feedback you have! The survey should load below, but if you have any issues, you can also access it here.

Whether you’re new around here or have been with me since the beginning, THANK YOU!!

  • Happy blog-a-versary! I’m still in my first year so I hope I can continue to grow my blog. How do you usually go about “sponsored posts”? Do you reach out to them or do they reach out to you? Do bloggers charge each other for sponsored posts?

    • Thanks, girl! I’ve done a bit of both – reaching out directly to companies and sometimes receiving emails from them. There are also some great networks you can join to get sponsored posts (check out my sidebar for some of them). Some bloggers charge for guest posts and others don’t. It’s different for everyone, but usually there’s a sponsor/advertise page that will detail that on blogs or you can reach out directly via email if there’s a blog you’d be interested in collaborating with or guest posting on!
