Aria Hotel Budapest

Both my mom and I are in agreement that the Aria Hotel Budapest was one of our all-time favorite hotels that we’ve stayed in. And quite possibly, the best EVER! The luxury boutique hotel opened less than a year ago, and has already landed the #1 spot on TripAdvisor! We were invited to stay for two nights during our trip to Budapest, and had nothing short of an amazing time!

The Aria Hotel Budapest is musically themed (something seen throughout the hotel) has four wings: Classical, Jazz, Opera, and Contemporary. Each wing has several different types of rooms and is filled with music and images of some of the music greats, which is so fun! As soon as you walk through the door, you’re immediately immersed in a musical atmosphere.

One of my favorite rooms in the hotel is right next to the entrance/exit. The Louis Armstrong lounge. It’s just so cozy, and the little extra Christmas touches really make it! Right across the way? The bar lounge featuring Marilyn Monroe! The pops of color throughout really give the hotel a unique personality!

Location

Perhaps the most important factor when choosing a hotel is location. The Aria Hotel Budapest is centrally located to the main attractions in a safe area of town, and just a 2-minute walk from St. Stephen’s Basilica! There are several restaurants and shops in the area, and right next to the Christmas markets (if you happen to be visiting in December)!

The Room

Where do I even begin?! Our jaws literally dropped when we walked into our room in the Classical Wing and saw how beautiful it was. Super spacious, the room had a little hallway that included a mini bar/coffee area (stocked with regular and sparkling water bottles), and the bathroom off to the side, which led to the main part of the room with the beds, desk, and the best hotel TV ever!

When we first walked in, classical music (to go with the wing theme) was playing, while a fake fireplace appeared on the TV. Talk about relaxing! In addition to an impressive list of TV channels, we also had access to the hotel’s music library, which included Whitney Houston’s Greatest Hits (one of my all-time favorite albums)! Needless to say, once we discovered that, it was a constant Whitney dance/singing party whenever we were in our room!

We found a fresh plate of fruit as a welcome in our room as well, and were pleasantly surprised to find an iPad (there’s one in every room) for complimentary use during our stay! I loved being able to catch up on some blog reading on a screen bigger than my phone at the end of the day/first thing in the morning!

Finally, the bathroom. Is it weird to rave about bathrooms? We loved it! And remember how excited we were about being able to jam to Whitney tunes? Welllllll, get this. The bathroom also has a speaker system that connects to the TV. Meaning, yes, Whitney blaring in the bathroom as well. I did inquire about whether or not the rooms (specifically the bathroom) were soundproof, because you better believe I started belting tunes out. To my relief, the answer was yes! And if you’re curious about what brand of toiletries are used, you’ll be pleased to know, it’s Molton Brown London. Only the best for guests at The Aria!

Hotel Freebies

Another amazing thing about Aria Hotel Budapest? The freebies! Who doesn’t like those?! Included in your stay (for free) are: Wi-Fi, breakfast (buffet style and eggs/omelettes made to order), gym and general pool/spa access, and roof access for amazing views of the city! As if that weren’t enough, the hotel also has a complimentary wine and cheese hour every afternoon in the lobby!

The lobby has the coolest design (hello music theme!) with a glass top above the first floor so you can see sunshine or stars from above, depending on the time of day. You can catch an even better look from the second floor and above, to see what’s happening in the lobby! It also gives you a killer view of that design!

We only made it up to the roof at night, since we were out and about during most of the day, but to me, there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing a city skyline lit up at night! The hotel also had a bar area enclosed to keep the chilliness out on the roof, so people could still admire the city views. It’s a little dark, but you can also see the “Merry Christmas” backdrop with St. Stephen’s Basilica in the background! In warmer months, you can also catch a yoga class on the rooftop!

To warm up or cool down, you can head to the bottom level of the hotel to relax at the pool (complete with a music backdrop), sit in the sauna, or squeeze in a workout at the gym! This is also where the hotel’s spa is located (more on that below)!

Service + Amenities

The service at the hotel is top-notch! Very focused on customer service and customization, they were able to help us out with any question or request, to make sure our needs were met. That to me, is priceless!

We couldn’t resist treating ourselves to massages at the Harmony Spa, which took the title of Best Wellness spa in all of Europe at the World Boutique Hotel Awards! I opted for a deep tissue (my favorite) and my mom went with the hot stone (her favorite). So incredibly relaxing, and wonderful after all of the walking we’d already been doing during our European adventure!

We also tried out the hotel’s room service, after a spur-of-the-moment excursion to one of the famous Hungarian Baths, that got us back to the hotel later than expected. We were pretty tired, all wet from the baths, and not hungry enough for full meals, so we ordered a plate of spaghetti, soup, and fruit, which were all made-to-order, fresh and delicious!

Being musically themed, the Aria Hotel Budapest also has a musical library, where you can check out various artists’ albums and even concert DVDs that you can view in their theater, which was created to give the feeling that you’re actually live at the concert in the audience. While we didn’t have time to watch a full-length concert, we did have a little preview of Queen’s “Hungarian Rhapsody,” (renamed obviously for the band’s visit to the country a few decades ago)! The library room also has someone with a Phd in music, which really shows you how serious they are about music! If you need a recommendation for concerts, events, or just want to chat, this is an awesome resource!

Last but not least, transportation. The Aria Hotel Budapest handled the booking of our train station pick up/drop off, which was incredibly helpful (our driver was waiting at the end of the platform for us), and convenient, as we were able to use a credit card (not all cabs/car services come equipped with card machines), and not have to use any of our Hungarian cash. Plus, by having the hotel summon a cab for us, we knew we wouldn’t be ripped off, and knew the estimate of the fare in advance.

Even though it’s been a couple months since our stay, it still comes up pretty frequently in conversations between my mom and I. And every time it does, the first thing we both seem to say is, “Ugh, I just love that place!”

The Aria Hotel Budapest has several promo offers available at the moment, the best being “Dreams of Love,” which includes a free night (after a two-night stay), and 2-for-1 spa treatments, in addition to the rest of their standard amenities. The offer’s good through most of the year (details on the promo page), so if a trip to Budapest is on your radar (and it should be!), I highly recommend taking advantage of this offer!

Wow, that hotel is breathtaking! I love hotels that have free WiFi!!

    • It was incredible, Dana! And so agree about the Wi-Fi, I feel like that’s a base requirement for choosing a hotel these days!

  • Definitely wouldn’t mind staying here!

    • I wouldn’t have minded relocating from my current dwellings into the hotel full time, haha. It was SO nice!

  • Such lovely architecture and what a nice design!

    • It was! We actually got to briefly meet the interior designer who happened to stop in while we were passing by in the lobby, so it was way cool to chat with the person with the amazing vision!

  • Lydia Guanga

I love Budapest – I got to live there for a semester when I was in college, so this hotel didn’t exist yet, but it makes me really excited that they have something like this which will hopefully encourage more people to visit an amazing city!

    • That’s so awesome! I’m jealous you were able to live there for a bit. I think the city is such a hidden gem! What’s your favorite memory during your time there?

  • This hotel looks absolutely amazing and like it belongs in Vegas! I love how it was musically themed and you can’t beat freebies either!

    • It was, Ashley! It does have that glamour Vegas look, but was 1000x better than any of the hotels I’ve stayed at in Vegas ! The music theme was very cool. I loved being able to blast tunes in our room – they even had a music category for relaxing music for dogs (if you bring your pup to the hotel)!

  • Noemi

    • Thanks for stopping by, Noemi! Hungary is beautiful! I wish we had more time there!
