Stitch Fix: April 2016 Review

It’s Stitch Fix time again! My April fix arrived on Friday and I couldn’t wait to open it up, even though as usual, I tried to peek and find out what my stylist sent ahead of time. This time around, I requested an outfit for my cousin’s upcoming bridal shower and was just hoping for some other fun spring outfits. Here’s what I got.

Stitch Fix April 2016 Review

THML Abriana Colorblock Embroidered Dress ($68)

I’ve seen this dress floating around Pinterest and love it! I was excited when I found it in my fix, although not that excited when I tried it on. It’s one of those dresses that clings to you big time (which I hate), and was a tad too snug in certain areas, so unfortunately, it’s definitely going back. Verdict: Returning

THML Abriana Colorblock Embroidered Dress

Daniel Rainn Albado Crew Neck Blouse ($58)

I received a Daniel Rainn blouse in a previous fix that I wear all the time so I was pretty pumped to find out that another one was coming. Although it looks like a plain black and white shirt, there are actually specks of color if you’re up closer with it. Verdict: Undecided. Need your help!

Daniel Rainn Albado Crew Neck Blouse

Collective Concepts Catheryn Dress ($88)

To be honest, this wasn’t one I was thinking I’d like. It seemed a little too “hippie” for my style at first glance, but paired with the fringe boots I received, it started to grow on me. Plus, I really do love the colors! Verdict: Undecided. Need your help!

 Collective Concepts Catheryn Dress

Liverpool Igor Crochet Back Top ($54)

Right off the bat, this one was a huge “no” for me. The back is entirely crocheted and I’m not a fan of the cut off sleeves look. The top button is also too high up, and I feel kind of claustrophobic with it buttoned. Not to mention with the button and the cut-off sleeves, I feel like a cross between a biker chick and a reverend. It’s too weird for me.  Verdict: Returning

Liverpool Igor Crochet Back Top

Diba Mya Suede Fringe Boot ($100)

I really love boots/booties! If I were shopping in store, I definitely wouldn’t have picked the fringe ones off the shelf, but I’m actually really digging these. I think they’re pretty spunky! I’m also glad Stitch Fix finally decided to add shoes to their inventory! Verdict: Undecided. Need your help!

As you can see, it was a bit of a disappointing month with Stitch Fix, especially after really loving my March fix! BUT there are a few items I’m considering keeping, and I’d love your opinions on whether or not I should!

  • Aww that’s a shame that the black and red dress didn’t work! It looks so pretty! I like the boots! The tassel is an extra cute kick of spunk! =) Good luck deciding on the others! =)

    • I know I was bumming about that first dress too :( I’m definitely going to keep the boots though!

  • I like the boots! If you need something like that, I say keep them.

    • I never NEED anything to keep… butttttt it’s hard to resist sometimes, haha. I decided to keep the boots. They’re so different from everything I have already!

  • Christy

Love the blouse and the shoes! The rest are just okay in my opinion.

    • Thanks, Christy! I’m definitely sold on the boots.

  • Great post! Love the little mini dress and the black and white shirt :) Thanks for sharing the awesome pics! Keep the boots, so cute :)

    • Thanks, Joan! The boots are definitely a keeper and I’m leaning toward keeping the dress too!

  • I really love that dress on you, especially with the boots! Keep those two ;)

  • Kait

I love StitchFix recap posts! Those booties are amazing! Keep those!

    • Me too! It’s always so fun to see what everyone gets + inspiration for what to request!

  • I really like the Daniel Rainn top and the booties. I haven’t gotten shoes in my Fix yet, but would totally keep those if they came my way!

    • The shoes just started a few weeks ago so hopefully you’ll get a pair soon. I’m definitely going to keep these!

  • Abby

I’ve never tried Stitch Fix, but I’m obsessed with reading about what people get. I love the black and white top. I think it could easily be dressed up or down for a ton of different occasions. I vote yes to that one :)

    • You should give it a try! If you enjoy reading about them I’m sure you’d REALLY enjoy getting a box of clothes on your doorstep every once in a while :) Thanks for your input, Abby!

  • You look fabulous in that dress and booties!!! So cute!!! I love a cute blousy top, so the daniel rainn would be a keeper for me as well! ;)

    • Thanks, Lauren! I think I’m going to go with the dress and booties!

  • love the booties- I have a similar pair and wear them all the time!

    • I decided to keep them, they’re too cute to send back!

  • The dress and the booties are adorable! The blouses are also cute, but the dress is my favorite!

    Alix |

    • Thanks, Alix! I think I’m going to keep the dress and booties!

  • I think those booties are so cute! I have a pair that’s similar and I wear them all the time!

    • I’m really digging them too, Ashley! Definitely keeping :)

  • The boots are cute! But overall, not a very good month :-(

    • I know, I was kind of bummed with what they sent. Almost like they mixed up my profile with someone else’s! I’m going to keep the boots though, I really like them!

  • I really like the booties and boho dress! I liked the first dress too but I can see how the fit doesn’t work. That would be my worry too.

    • I’m going to keep them both! I wish the first dress worked out better, but on the bright side, it’s better for my wallet, haha.

  • I would totally keep the booties and Cathryn Dress!!!!

    • That’s exactly what I’m going to do, Susannah :)

  • Ohhhhh I love those booties definitely keep them!

  • Dress & booties KEEP. Return the blouse – it’s fine, but nothing special!

    • Thanks, Lacey! I think I’m going to do just that!

  • I would keep the booties but nothing else.

  • The dress + blouse are cute but if you aren’t sold on them I wouldn’t spend that price tag on either.

    • Good points. I’m pretty confident that the blouse is going back!

  • Melissa Chee

    LOVE the boots

  • Those boots tho..

    • I love them! Now I just need to figure out more outfits to pair them with :)

  • I would keep the booties and the dress. The colors on the other top are what’s holding me back on that.

    • I think I’m going to! The blouse up close looks nice, but even looking in the mirror you can’t see them too well. I think that one’s going back.

  • I would keep the booties and the dress. I’m feeling ehhhh on the rest of the fix. LOVE those boots tho!

    • That’s what I’m going to do! My thoughts exactly on the rest of the fix. Hopefully next time will be better!

  • Chrissa – Physical Kitchness

I like the booties! They are totally unique and you’re right, not something I’d normally pick up, but really fun!

    • Yes! So excited to be adding them to my shoe collection :)

  • Justine Y

Too bad you had such a disappointing month. :( Like the booties and the dress, not so crazy about the blouse.

    • On the bright side, it’s better on my wallet! I decided to keep the booties and the dress!

  • The booties are cute! (though I’m not sure I would pay $100 for them). I really like the blouse on you!

    • Thanks, Olya! I wish shoes weren’t so expensive!

  • Those booties and that dress are adorable! I would say 100% yes on the booties. The dress is super cute and flattering too thought! The top… It’s just okay:)

    • Thanks, Joanna! I decided to keep the dress and booties!

  • Love the booties and the dress! SO cute.

    xoxo, Jenny

    • Thanks, Jenny! I decided to keep both. Can’t wait to wear them!

  • ashley

I LOVE those booties! They have fringe so they are a keeper!! :P also like that last top!

    • It’s my first fringe addition to my closet, so I’m pretty excited :)

  • Love love love the First dress and the booties for sure!!

  • I love stitch fix! Definitely keep those booties :)

    • Me too! It can be dangerous on my wallet though, haha. The booties are a keeper for sure!

  • I’ve heard so many good things about Stitch Fix so I’m anxious to try it out. The fringe booties are a definite keep from me; they seem so versatile!

    • Definitely keeping them, thanks Amanda! You should give Stitch Fix a try, it’s such a fun service!

  • YESSSS to the dress!!! Keep it!

  • The boots are AMAZING! And you should totally keep them! I like the first top, too!

    • I decided to keep them, they’re too fun not to!

  • Brenda

I never say no to fringe booties! I love that Stitch Fix puts shoes in fixes now!

    • Me too, Brenda! Although I think it might be extra dangerous on my wallet now that shoes are included too!

  • Love the booties! I can’t wait until my budget allows for stitch fix again (currently on a spending freeze). IMO, the colors of the second dress are awesome, but a it’s a little too short for my personal style.

    • Thanks, Kalyn! I feel like I need to go on a spending freeze after all I’ve bought this past month, haha. Good luck with it, hopefully you’ll get a spend break soon ;)

  • The dress and boots are my favorite, but I’d probably wear the dress more like a tunic depending on your work environment. I have loved my orders from stitchfix, but the items are always much more expensive than what I normally spend.

    • I hear you! I’ve gotten some of my favorite things from them though, so it’s a struggle! I’m thinking I’ll end up wearing the dress more on weekends/vacation.

  • I really love those shoes!! They’re super cute. I have yet to try Stitch Fix. I’m still not sure if it’s worth the money. Plus it’s just so much easier to go to the store and buy what I need haha

    • I’m really loving them too! Stitch Fix can definitely get pricey, but the quality is great and I always end up getting so many things I love that I’d probably pass in the store. Plus, it’s so convenient! I can never find things I like in store!

  • OMG send the embroidered dress my way! I love it!! Also, those fringe boots are adorable!

    • I think so too! I’m pretty excited to add these to my closet :)

  • I think those fringe booties are so cute – you could wear them year round and they’d go with so much!

    • That’s what I’m thinking too, Jackie! Especially living in Florida where it’s pretty much summer year-round, haha.

  • The boots are cute very interesting concept.

    • I think so too! They’re definitely unlike anything else I own!

  • The chambray top is super cute!

    • I think chambray looks great on everyone but me! I feel so awkward in it for some reason!

  • Mar

Stitchfix doesn’t ship to Canada, and I’m kind of happy about that. Looks deadly! Love those boots.

    • Haha, some months can definitely be deadly! It’s great for revamping or sprucing up your wardrobe though!

  • I love the collective dress but would pair it with different shoes- maybe some cute high heel sandals! :)

  • I really like the dress and think you should keep it. I recently purchased a pair of “summer” booties (and I wouldn’t have but I know the shop owner and she insisted I try them on) and I love them. I would keep the dress and boots – it’s nice to go outside our normal zone of clothing.

    • Great thinking, Sheryl! I’m going to keep both. You’re absolutely right on needing to step outside of our normal zone every once in a while. Thanks for the reminder :)

  • Leslie Soto

The boots are super adorable. I’ve never tried StitchFix but I love seeing everyone’s posts!

    • You should give it a try! I’m so glad I discovered them!

  • hmmm not a fan of the top that you’re undecided on, but that ‘hippie’ dress and the fringe booties are super cute. that dress really looks amazing on you!

    • Thanks, Kristen! I decided I wasn’t too keen on that top after all either. Going to keep the dress and boots! Yay for fun summer/spring clothes!

  • I love the dress and shoes together, I say keep those!

  • those fringe boots are adorable! I like the dress but the top I would return <3

    • Thanks for your input, Kara! That’s exactly what I decided to do!

  • Love the suede ankle boots. I never heard about stitch fix I am going to check them out.

  • Not a fan of the top, love the dress, and I do love the boots but you could probably find almost the same thing at a target or Kohl’s for way, way less money (I am definitely cheap haha).

    • I wish stores like Target or TJMaxx would come out with a (more affordable) styling service like Stitch Fix. I think it’d be SO popular and save us all a lot of money!

  • Dana Brillante-Peller

I love your whole fix! I think I want to ask for all of those items!!!

    • Go for it, Dana! I hope you get them all! I always find so much inspiration in things to request from other reviews!

  • Mostly Simple Life

Those are some tricky items, but I like the “hippie” dress on you :)

    • I agree! I decided to keep the hippie dress. Something new to spruce up my closet!

  • Neely

That first dress and those boots are SUPER cute!

    • I wish that first dress fit me better, it does look so cute on the hanger! Definitely keeping the boots though :)

  • I love the dress; it’s too bad it didn’t fit quite right. Reading these reviews always makes me want to give Stitch Fix a shot! Are the items fairly reasonable (like $50 or less) or are they more expensive?

    • It can be expensive, but you let your stylist know your price range when you sign up for the service which helps. You do get a 25% discount off your fix if you keep everything they send. Doing that can actually make things much cheaper!

  • Lori Lyons Luhrman

I agree that the dress with the boots looks super cute and comfortable…just right for spring! It’s too bad you didn’t love the fit of the first dress, it’s fantastic! I’m getting my second fix in a couple of weeks and hoping for a great dress for summer. Thanks for sharing and good luck choosing!

    • Thanks, Lori! I ended up going with the embroidered dress and booties. I hope you get a great fix! I’m always anxious for mine to arrive :)

  • Love the Daniel Rainn blouse, Rachel! You could tuck it in to (high waisted) pants or a skirt, wear a cool blazer or cardigan or no blazer or cardigan. Accessorise with a belt to accentuate your waist, and a cool bag. Would work for day and night. In the winter you could do it with skirt and tights (picking up one of the colours in the top perhaps) with boots or booties, and keep the same accessories. Heck, you probably wouldn’t even need the belt if the pants and skirt sit right.

The other stuff isn’t me at all, so I’d probably send it all back! Good luck with your decisions!

  • I think you should keep the dress and boots, they look so cute together!

  • adriana nudo

I love that lace back top! So cute for summer!

  • I love both both of the dresses! I really like the boots as well but $100 is a bit much. I got some similar boots for about $40. I just got my recent fix as well.I kept two things.

  • Thanks for your input! I ended up keeping the hippie dress and booties :) I hope you’re able to try it out soon!

  • My vote definitely goes to the crew neck blouse! Love the pattern and it’s super flattering on you!

  • I love the dress and the boots on you! LOL, and I totally see what you mean about the crochet back top…No, just no.

  • I haven’t done a Stich Fix in so long, but I definitely want to again now that I’ve seen some of the cute pieces! Love that blouse.

xx katie // a touch of teal

  • Crystal Byron

Love the boots! I really need to try out Stitch Fix for a little mommy makeover.

  • Frolic_Life_Syl

I love those booties. I have a similar pair in cognac and i wear them a ton. Keep!

  • My favorite item by far is the boot!!! Keep it, that color is fantastic. :)
