May 2016 Goals

I probably sound like a broken record, but I’ll continue on with it because I really cannot believe another month has come and gone! It seems like time keeps going faster and faster. I wish I could pause it for a bit! But a new month means time to check in on last month’s goals and set some new ones for this month.

Let’s take a quick look back at last month’s goals to see how I did.

  1. Focus on quality content (3-4 posts per week). Done! Lowering the number of posts per week has really given me some time back to focus on other things and it’s been really great!
  2. Clothing purge. I made some headway on this, but it’s something I definitely want to revisit again soon!
  3. Read one book. Complete fail on this one. I read an issue of US Weekly, but that doesn’t really count.
  4. Get 8+ hours of sleep at least 3 nights a week. Not even close on this. I hit 8+ hours only once a week consistently through all of April.
  5. Post on Instagram 2-3x/week. Check! Looking back at my feed for the month, I held steady with 2 posts per week.

may 2016 goals

I’m hoping May will be a better month in terms of accomplishing goals! Here’s what I’m hoping to achieve.

  1. Do some spring cleaning. Life gets busy and the clutter piles up. It’s been looking a bit rough lately (especially in the kitchen and bedroom areas), so it’s time to tackle the clutter!
  2. Eat out less (2x max per week). Usually this one’s a domino effect for me. If I eat out once or twice, it continues onward until I’m eating out like every day. No bueno on the wallet. I’m going to challenge myself to eating out a max of 2x per week (this is taking into account weekend activities already planned in May).
  3. Better define my blog strategy. This is more of a behind-the-scenes thing, but I want to better define an overall strategy for my blog, in terms of posts, partnerships, etc.
  4. Clean up old blog posts. I’ve had STCL for over 4 years now, and since transferring over to WordPress last year, there is quite a bit of “cleaning up” I’ve been needing to do!
  5. Read Me Before You. I’m going to reattempt my reading goal this month with one that’s been on my shelf for a while. Since the movie comes out early next month, I really want to finish it!

    Great job on accomplishing your goals last month. I try to get at least 8+ hrs of sleep each night. Typically I do well with this when I do not have anything crazy going on. Last month I did not get 8+ hrs each night unfortunately. Reading has been a goal that I have been trying to accomplish. I am currently reading Leave Your Mark and it is really good. I have also been trying to clean up old blog posts. It takes so much time to do. Good luck with your goals this month!

    You are not a broken record. I feel like I’ve started 90
    % of my goal posts about how fast the month went by lol
    I am also trying to eat out less, get more sleep and post on Instagram more. It will be the first time I’m actively posting at least once a day. I’m doing a challenge so I’m hoping that it will help. My plan is to do them at different times of the day and with different hashtags to grow engagement.

    Good luck with your goals! I’m doing a no spend May, so far so good. Then again we are only 2 days in. I’m only paying bills this month, it’s depressing and seems dull but I’ve got a few good books and blogs to read.

    I’m with you on the eating out…if I start eating out during the week it snowballs into me eating out and not getting groceries all week! And I’m making all my friends read Me Before You so they can go see it with me next month, do itttt! :)

    I am the same way with eating out – if I eat out multiple times early in the week I just give up on cooking that week and continue to eat out. But usually we do pretty well and only eat out on Friday or Saturday – it helps we like to be in bed by like 8pm.

    Great goals! We actually eat in on weekdays and on weekends is like our break and we like to head out to eat if we don’t have leftovers.

    I’m working on cleaning up old posts as well! I think it really helps to do so and then share them again. We’re trying to dine out less as well but we’ve already gone twice since Friday so it’s not looking good. haha

    Fantastic goals!! Totally want to read Me before you… and will most likely cry my heart out while doing it. I also cried while reading PS. I love you – which was mostly due to actual laughter. That book was so funny… oddly enough.

    Spring cleaning and purging clothing is a must in this house! Ugh… not looking forward to it.

    Great job meeting most of your goals!! Love Instagram but I have such a hard time keeping up with it. Cheers!

    It sounds like you did a decent job at completing your goals last month, and you have some good ones for May! I hope that you get the chance to finish reading Me Before You because I’ve heard so many great things about it! I totally hear you on having to go back and clean up old posts!     Read one book….I failed with you this past month! I feel like that’s my goal every month and I never accomplish it!!! I would love to do this for June, and I think it will actually happen because I’ll have the month off from school.

    I have some similar goals-I want to purge some of my clothing as well and stop eating out as much! Eating out kills our savings, I would love to put that money to other things!

      It definitely does! Not eating out for 2 meals is at least $20 so it adds up very quickly. Good luck with your goals!
