Stitch Fix: August 2017 Review

It’s been a few months (April) since I’ve done a Stitch Fix review, so I’m excited to have a new one for you today! Believe it or not, this is actually #24! It’s hard to believe that I’ve now received 24 boxes from Stitch Fix. Whoa!

I actually received a “fix” back in June requesting some items for the BlogHer conference and my birthday, but it was pretty terrible. As in wrong style, wrong sizes, just wrong, wrong, wrong. I reached out to Stitch Fix expressing my disappointment, and they offered to waive my styling fee this time around to make up for it. Let’s see how my new stylist did this time around.

Stitch Fix August 2017

August Mist Juleen Metallic Dot Knit Top ($38)

When I first pulled this out of the box, it looked SO small. In fact, I was thinking my 10 year-old sister would be able to wear it instead! But I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on and found that it stretched (not in a bad way) to fit me, and wasn’t clingy (like I thought it’d be). I like that this can be worn as is when the weather’s warm, and would also look great with a cardigan or jacket over! Verdict: Kept

Californian Stitch Carola Wide Leg Pant ($48)

“Ummmm what?!” was my reaction to these pants before, during, and after seeing and trying them on. My stylist wrote that these would give me some Reese Witherspoon vibes which I was excited to hear reading when I read her note, but when I saw what the pants looked like I was very confused. While they do feel comfortable on, they’re SO not my style. They reminded me of a mix between an accordion and window blinds. Just… weird. Verdict: Returned

Renee C Jayani Racerback Top ($38)

I’m not normally a fan of shirts that show too much upper arm (this girl needs to start doing some more arm workouts), but I really liked this racerback top! The colors are bright and fun, and it’s a great addition to my wardrobe for summer! Also, more on these jeans below, but I’m obsessed! Verdict: Kept

Renee C Jayani Racerback Top

Nine Britton Nicola Knit Midi Dress ($50)

The color of this midi dress is GORGEOUS. I was on the fence on this one but ultimately decided I didn’t love it enough to keep it. The front was a bit awkward, especially in the waist area with the band (sometimes you just can win with dresses with those). Verdict: Returned

Liverpool Elizabeth Super Skinny Jean ($78)

I’ve received Liverpool pants from Stitch Fix before, and they’re always my favorite item in the box! This brand seriously knows what’s up when it comes to comfort AND style. This pair of jeans was no exception. While I know I’ve sworn off keeping jeans before, I couldn’t resist this pair because (1) I appreciate a good pair of stretchy jeans (this has a waistband instead of a button) and (2) I feel like they’re very flattering, which can be a hard quality to find in clothing! Plus, most of my jeans (at least the ones I wear all the time) are darker, and these are a little lighter. #Variety, ya know? Verdict: Kept

Liverpool Elizabeth Super Skinny Jean

This fix was MUCH better than the last one and as you can see, I ended up keeping 3 out of the 5 items sent. I’m thinking I’ll sign up for one more next month to (hopefully) get some good fall pieces before my fall travel, since fall is my fave season for clothing!

What are your favorite summertime clothing pieces? Do you have any faves from this fix?

I had too many misses with StitchFix and haven’t used them in a long time. Looks like you got a pretty good box this time around. I especially love the tops in this one.

  • Love the tops you received! They are so cute!

  • Brenda Melendez

I like the 3 items you kept. I think my daughter would like all of them also, and I might also like the jeans, especially since they don’t have a button.

  • Audrey Knizek

LOVE that racerback top! It’s so flattering on you. I agree about the pants though…what even are those?! Haha!

  • Amanda Faber

Such cute pieces!! And I love those jeans!!

I actually like everything you got (except those accordion pants, haha!) I LOVE those jeans and that racer-back top the most – they’re so cute! I got Liverpool jeans in my fix last month and they’re such great quality and super flattering!

  • Those jeans look so good on you! Also loving that racerback top.

  • Too bad the dress didn’t work out because the color was so pretty. You managed to snag some pretty great stuff though! I got jeans in my Stitch Fix as well and love them!!!

  • So sad to see you returned those wide leg pants. So cute on you!

  • thesophiadiaries

wow looks like you got some great finds this time! that grey top is so cute! what a great transition to fall piece <3

  • I would have kept and returned the exact items! Love the top you kept. It’s such a fun print. :)

  • I did it a few times! My first box was amazing! and then it just kept going downhill and I got some AWFUL pieces so I cancelled after 3 boxes because it just wasn’t worth it. They also kept sending me items WAY more expensive then I had specified – but jokes on them because I found amazing jeans that fit me, and found them on ebay for half off NWT!

  • yay for a good fix! that is awesome they waived your styling fee after a bummer box. that dress is such a gorgeous colour but i totally understand not keeping it. you gotta love it! i haven’t done a stitch fix in over a year, i might have to do one soon!

  • That’s great to hear they have good customer service and waived your styling fee. I still haven’t tried a stitch fix, I’m so picky so I’m too scared I’ll waste the styling fee…I do love that dress color too!

  • Stitch fix does jeans so well! I’ve had almost 30 fixes but I haven’t gotten one in a few months! I actually really liked those wide leg pants on you – theyre a cool statement style!

  • Great fix! I have one coming in two weeks. I just pinned the two tops to my Stitch Fix pinterest because they are both really cute. And I can so relate to the elastic waist dresses, I can never win with those.

  • I lovvvve the dress you didn’t keep and the skinny jeans look great on you! I have bought a few boxes, but I can’t afford a $80 dress and they kept sending me items around that price range. All of the items I have bought from them though, I have loved and have worn over and over.

  • mckenna bleu

I love those items! That top that you kept looks great on you!

  • Kristen Jones

Those skinny jeans look great on you! I love the metallic dot top, too!

  • I love the purple dress on you, I think you should reconsider. The metallic dot top is cute too!

  • I love the items you kept! The pants definitely don’t seem to fit with the rest of the box. I got four Stitch Fix boxes earlier this year – one of my boxes was a HUGE hit and I kept everything, but my last box was such a flop that I decided to stop my subscription for a little while.

    xoxo, Paige

  • I love the items you kept, but that pink dress looked great on you as well!! Glad they did better this time!

  • You look great in everything! Super cute looks!

  • Tori Dunlap

I’ve heard of Stitch Fix, but never knew what it was for! haha Looks like a super interesting service.

  • Lots of great pieces! I especially love the racerback top. The pattern is so pretty! Also, good call on those wide leg pants. I’m not too keen on them either.

  • You look so great in these! I’m not a big wide leg pant, but I heard they’re coming back in style!

  • Amy

My boyfriend’s mom uses stitchfix and loves it! I love the pieces you got, especially the pink dress!
